OK,  Maybe someone had a use in mind when they designed and created it...maybe

Donnie wants to know if anyone has ideas on how the heck you would resharpen it if you did use it LOL

I think that would scare away any attacker. Just hold it up. Problem solved.....don't have to sharpen it.
