Donnie asked me a question Friday and I cannot find an answer so I am hoping you all can help.  Who made the first teardrop shaped jack pattern?

Good question. I don't know if there IS an answer. Even Bernard Levine (the know everything guy about pocket knife history) doesn't address when the "Teardrop" or "Swell-End" Jack knife came about. It WAS a common pattern WAAAY back when. The first company to make it? It may actually go back to knife making in the 1700's with single blade Jacks. Hmmm.......
