I am starting this discussion on Case Slimlocks because after having seen some pics of them I am extremely intrigued. However, other than pics I've never read a good objective review on them. None of the dealers in my area have actually had one in stock that I could get my hands on to open and close and feel the weight of. I'd like to know a little bit more about them before paying the pretty steep price they all seem to start at.

Does anybody here have one? What do you think of them? Why do these knives seem so hard to find? Is the release of these knives restricted or limited somehow? Why are they so difficult to find?

They wouldn't be worth the money to be. I like the pearl but not at the price. Whittlers and trappers are my favorites. In my opinion the price is reason they are hard to find. Dealers do not like to invest that much in one knife.
I can by at distributor price and am still not interested.
I am not familiar with this knife. A person who probably knows is Tommy Clark at Blue Ridge Knives in Marion, VA

Well Tom would certainly know,in fact he's probably one of the few people I know of that can afford one.I'd like to have one but would have to go without eating for a month to get it.Ahh.. what the heck I could probably loose a few pounds.I'd also like to have an Arkansas Hunter, but for the price of the two,you could make a house payment.Tony ain't cheap though.I met him in Bradford when he was on his way to sell Case the little Saddlehorn. He let me look at his PROTO, it was dynamite.I asked him how much and I think he said $350-$400.That was back in the late 90's,but if you want the best.Put up or shut up...My lips are sealed.

David,

Of course I'm biased but I own two of the SlimLocks. They're just fabulous really. The BG-42 blade stays sooo sharp...I haven't ever resharpened it yet! It's a great "Church knife" too...the action on the blade works just as smooth as butter! If you live near a bigger Case dealer, try one on. You won't leave the store without it. I think Shepherd Hills sells theirs at a good price.
Hi Fred,
Thanks for the advice. I think I'm just going to have to remove logic from the equation and get one because I have just been interested in them for too long now to let it pass.

I have a Spyderco Military with BG-42 steel and I have to agree with you, its a great one for knives.

Can you tell me if the Slimlocks come with a pouch or a sheath? I would hate to scratch that up with my pocket change or my keys.
I agree the price is high for a knife of this size. I kind of figured at 3.5" closed it was going to seem smaller in person that I had imagined.

And it does have a clip, eh? Now see, if it wasn't for you guys and iKnifeCollector I wouldn't know that. Not having handled one in person yet, all the pics I have seen of them, none of them showed the reverse side or otherwise revealed there was s clip. Actually, I am a little disappointed that it has a clip. It is easier and more preferable to me to imagine the Slimlock as a higher-end gentleman's knife without a clip. Thanks again.
Hi David,

Yes, it comes with a pocket sheath. It's genuine leather and thin - the top of the sheath folds over onto the knife and slips through a loop (much like a watch band) instead of having a snap. Even in the sheath the knife doesn't get bulky in your pocket. I like that!
