Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Ok, I just obtained one of the coolest knives I have ever seen (see attachments). It's a 73 Beaver Tail with Beaver Pond Bone. That handle material is simply gorgeous; moreover, it has a kind of "granite" feel in the hand that is marvelous; it has a certain heft to it, and I want more!! I was wondering if GEC has used this handle material on anything else. I have never seen it before, and, by the way, what exactly is Beaver Pond Bone? I know that most of you veterans out there are familiar with this material and that you wouldn't mind commenting on it. Perhaps I should have put this under "newest GEC" but I kinda wanted a separate discussion. Is that ok?

Gary,

There were two original Beavertail knives and neither one was wood.  Until they went to the beaver shields, the beavertails were done in Beavertail and Beaverpond handles.  They were 2007 production only and came in both 23 and 73.  They are exceptional handle materials, I wish they would do more of them.
