Here's my newest GEC.

Tidioute #53 Cattle Rancher.

Where do I start? Well, first impression is that this is one hunk of a hefty knife!

Fit and finish is as close to flawless as you can get with a factory knife.

Blades are tight, but the main blade has just a teeny tiny bit of play. I hate play and this amount doesn't bother even me!! So it's fine and dandy!

Blade pull is strong and solid. When the blades snap open my first thought is "who needs a lock?"! LOL! But not so bad to hurt your fingernail. Perfect!

Everything about this knife says "HEAVY DUTY"! And with beautiful looks!

This is my first Tidioute brand knife from GEC. The blades have a glaze finish instead of a polished finish like the Northfield brand. For  glaze finished blades, they are fantastic.....the nicest glaze finish I've ever seen! I love it!

Well, it just keeps getting better. With each GEC I get, I get pulled into the GEC world farther and farther. I'm fast becoming a GEC fanatic!

Craig,

That is one beauty of a knife.  Tell me what handle material it is?

The cattle rancher is certainly a beast of a pocket knife.  I actually very much like the Tidioute brands.  For a brand that is marketed as "without" the bells and whistles it holds it's own in the factory market.  It certainly doesnt look or act like a plain jane model does it?

Wow! That's a beaut! Great photos, too! Enjoy it in good health, my friend!

Thanks Ron!

Jan, sorry, I was so excited about it I broke my own rule! That's "Goldenrod Wave Bone". Not to sure about the "Wave" part.....it looks a bit like a "worm groove" jig, or maybe like the old Queen Winterbottom Bone jig, to me, but I like it!

I always did like a good "Cigar Pattern" knife. I think I'll have to get a couple more of the 53s. Maybe Ebony next time. Actually I was going to get an Ebony handled one this time, but I came across these at Ken Mundhenk's place; Blue Creek Cutlery, so I decided to grab one.
