Hey everyone, I’m curious to hear your thoughts on Kershaw’s implementation of the crossbar lock with their DuraLock models. I’ve relied heavily on Benchmade 940 with its Axis lock, which has served me faithfully for 30 years—still smooth and reliable, even with frequent use.

Recently, I’ve been exploring Kershaw’s DuraLock models, and I have to say, they’re starting to edge their way into my EDC rotation. I’d love to hear what others think, especially if you’ve had hands-on experience with any of these knives. Here’s a breakdown of my impressions so far:

  • Iridium: This one really stands out to me. It seems like Kershaw’s attempt to take on Benchmade's mid-to-heavy-duty EDC range. The ball-bearings make the action nearly frictionless, and it feels robust enough for most tasks while still being sleek. Anyone else feel this is a solid alternative to pricier Benchmade models?  Coming off my 940 I particularly like the Iridium reverse tanto options.

  • Bel Air (Carbon Fiber): I was late to the party on the Bel Air, but the new carbon fiber version impressed me as a lightweight, dressy EDC option. It feels like Kershaw’s answer to the Bugout crowd, with its reduced weight and thinner blade profile. What are your thoughts? Does it stack up to the Bugout?

  • Heist: This model is solid, but the use of bronze washers and lower-cost materials makes it feel like a step down from the Iridium and Bel Air for me. It’s functional and dependable but lacks the refinement of its siblings. Does anyone else feel it’s a great budget option but not quite a game-changer?
