General INFO section...Knife world news and special links for input (POST THEM HERE) for all to enjoy!

I think over the years there have been so many knife sites and info sites, that I have read from page to page...that never get passed on to others and you end up having to surf to find them later..So I thought a special area earmarked just for those would be great...Since I am an avid Case collector and collector of the coke bottle shaped knives of all brands, there will be those links that interest me.

I hope to see the sharing of other members favorite info links so we can all have fast clicks to the world Library of Knives.

Sue

Sue,

Can I say thank you about 100 times for this info?  I have always wanted to read the knife makers who went west but have never found a copy for less than 150.00.  That link is just awesome.  So how about it, anyone else have some sites to share?

Antique And Collectible Knives - A Brief History And Overview

By  Paul Sidelinger

There are many seasoned sword and knife collectors who are interested in old, collectible, antique, vintage pocket knives, hunting knives, classic gun knives, boar knives, throwing spikes and stilettos.

An imperial collection of these antiques remain as a matter of pride and fancy to antique lovers. There are many antique depots that promote knife collections. They sell antique collectibles to knife lovers at grand and amazing prices. Some of the antiques in the market are:

Vintage Cattaraugus "Sleeve Board Pen knife" - This is a great old knife. The blades have strong snap. Nice gold-flake, celluloid handles.

Rare old Utica Kutmaster Advertising Knife "Northrup King Seeds" 3 blade stockman - Large clip blade has nice long nail pull. Nickel silver bolsters. Brass liners. Nice old American made ad knife.

Just the coolest little knife, Joseph Rodgers "Mini Sheepsfoot" - Handle is rough-textured black bone with inlaid nickel silver oval shield (great to engrave on). Blade has super-strong; it snaps open and close.

Rare old antique A. KASTOR Coca Cola Advertising Knife - This has 2 blades: can bottle opener and spear blade. The main blade is tang stamped "A. KASTOR BROS. NEW YORK" on one side and "COCA COLA BOTTLING" on the other side. Strong open and close snap on both blades.

Vintage Case, Tested XX knife, 2 blade "Equal End" with slick-black handle - Large clip blade is swedged and has nice long nail pull. It has a small pen blade. It's a rare old beauty with strong blade snap and solid handles. It would make a great addition to any knife collection. They just don't make 'em like this anymore.

Vintage Cattaraugus "Sunfish" knife - This has a hard to find pattern. This is a great old knife with full blades and strong snap. Flawless Honey Jigged Bone handles.

Rare old antique Lipic Advertising Knife "Do Better with Doughboy Climatized FEEDS" - Large spear point blade is swedged at the tip and has nice long nail pull. The other is a bottle opener and screwdriver. Strong open and close snap on both blades. This has a Lipic U.S.A. tang stamp.

Nice Old, Rare, "Buster Brown Health Shoes," camp utility knife with nice jigged bone handle - This knife is in excellent condition. All blades have strong snap. Large spear blade has nice long, deep, nail pull and is swedged on both sides to the point. It has a "BUSTER BROWN" inlaid shield. There is a tang stamp on spear blade; Number 30 on back tang of spear blade. This has nice nickel silver bolsters with beauty line.

Very old and rare "Cock Spur Saw Knife" made by J.M. Vance & Company, a hardware wholesaler of Philadelphia, Pa from 1776-19.

1920's vintage Cattaraugus "Sleeveboard" pen knife - This comes in hard to find pattern. This great old knife comes with full blades and good snap.

1930's vintage Cattaraugus "Dog Bone" knife - Extremely rare pattern has fancy swirled celluloid handles, with dog bone front and rear bolsters, like a toothpick.

Cited above are only a few of antique and collectible knives. All the antiques are available in used condition, but rarely treasured ones are available in mint condition. Proud possession of such knives is a matter of luck and money, certainly.
