Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

A dicsussion group about knives of the Great Outdoors  needs to have an area to discuss all those fixed blades.  This will be a place to show off your fixed blades.  Doesn't matter if it for filet fish or just the knife you use around the camp fire.  Maybe its your favorite deer skinner!  Let's see it!

For years, the knife i took camping was my Camillus Mk2 Fighting knife.  But it is now in retirement.  Not because I found something better, just because it has too much sentimental meaning to have it confiscated by a park ranger or game warden or lost through stupidity.

My current camp knife is a Rough Rider 844 Burl Wood Hunter.  Why?  Because it has been getting the job done.  I've got Hunters by Bear & Son, Case and Buck that all cost more but  this one seems to get the job done better and cost half as much as the others.

The only issue I had with the knife was the strap for the sheath. It got in the way of taking the knife in and out of the sheath .  A little altering and all was fine.

Knife and sheath look to be top quality! All the best!

Great looking knife, Andy.

I just came across this knife and am buying it.

From Outdoor Life MagazineThe Vulture Cholera Knifeby Tim MacWelch

Excerpts:

Earlier this year, Vulture Equipment Works debuted their new Cholera fixed-blade knife at SHOT Show, where it was declared “People's Choice Knife Shot Show 2014”.

The steel is heat-treated 1095 high-carbon alloy steel with a Scandi grind profile, which I believe to be the best profile for butchering and wood carving. The blade is made more durable with a clear Cerakote finish. You can also drill and pierce with this knife, thanks to the false edge at the tip of the knife’s spine.

Pretty good looker there, Shlomo.  Really interested to hear your take on it!

Nice looking knife. It won the People's Choice Award, I wonder what "People"?

Awesome knife Shlomo

Looks like a practical knife, Shlomo.  The blade looks nice and wide, too.

Thanks folks -

How about a smaller blade - can be used as a back pocket or a necker - The Kentucky Fieldmate, designed by my friend Derek (a Firefighter) and made by John Kiedaisch -

This has been a great little knife -
