Stewart Taylor Shark Knife!

This is probably the knife that made Taylor brands!

The Shark! Doesn't look like a shark, but Stewart Taylor called it the Shark! There were a TON of them in every handle you can imagine. My brother-in-law used to collect them! In fact he had so many, that when he talked to Stewart Taylor, Stewart said he didn't even remember making many of the ones my brother-in-law had!!

The story that made it famous was the one were there was a coal mine cave in, and a Miner clawed his way out using a Taylor Shark Knife! The blade was bent to the side but he got out! He sent the knife to Stewart Taylor and Stewart had the story printed up, and of course sent the Miner a brand new Shark Knife!

Do any of you guys have any?

They were made in Japan, and he made a gazillion of them. Where did they all go???

BUT, he still makes one now! Under the Schrade Old Timer brand. It's called "The Land Shark"

The Shark Knife IS the knife that made Taylor Brands!!

Here's what I found;

"The third was a knife, called the Shark, which Taylor redesigned from an older Japanese pattern. Of all the knives created by Taylor Brands, the Shark holds the most meaning for Taylor because the capital received from that knife not only kept the company afloat but enabled Taylor Brands to grow."

Somebody needs to bid on that Craig! 1980's Stag?!? Its thick and that tang stamp, with that story totally collectable.

Actually I'm kinda surprised that a lot of knife people have never heard of Taylor nowadays. I think everyone knows Parker and Frost.

He made them in every handle that you could think of. My brother-in-law had ones Taylor didn't remember making! That Old Timer one is the last easy to get Shark. I guess it's made in China now. The originals were made in Japan.

NEWS FLASH!

I was talking to my brother-in-law, and he told me he still has a couple of his Taylor Shark knives!! He's bringing them over for me to take pictures of tomorrow. I thought they were all gone. He used to have ones that Stewart Taylor said he didn't remember making! LOL!
