I see a zip line exit strategy in your future, Ken.

Yes, safety first. I have a good tree stand set up, but I still have to climb that ladder - its easier getting in than getting out. I may give that up in the next few years.

Robert, you are so right.  Stand safety is very important.  A friend of mine had a relative who fell from a stand only four feet high and died from the injuries.  I used to go to church with a fellow who was pulling his rifle up into his tree stand on a rope.  He had loaded the rifle on the ground.  While pulling it up, it went off and shot him in the hand.  Never load the rifle till safely in the stand.

I have a 17 foot ladder stand that i bow hunt from.  I have a rule that I always repeat to myself and religiously follow while climbing it.  "Three on the tree".   I never have less than three appendages attached to the ladder.  I only let go with one hand or one foot at a time to climb.  And the first thing I do once in the stand is belt myself in.

Good reminder, Robert.  It is especially true for guys like Craig Henry and me who get paid on Wednesday each month.  That is, old as dirt.  Tuck and roll doesn't work for us as well as it did when cars had that button on the floor just above, and to the right of the gas pedal.

I want everyone to think safety, this hunting season.

I just met a nice lady that fell from a deer stand and had to be air lifted, for help. Turns out she just cracked some ribs. That is still a very painful injury. Years ago a deer stand I was hunting in fell with me as I shot a deer. I have been a bit disabled ever since. So while everyone is preaching "Gun Safety", I am preaching "Stand" safety too.

Yes, Robert, I'd love to see that skinning rack. Good luck on deer and hog hunting.  I went hunting last night, didn't see a thing. Just 2 squirrels.

I hope to do some deer and hog hunting, this week end. I need to get going, on that big game hunting.

Congrats Paul! You have a fine buck there. Also, some great eating. I can smell that back strap cooking now. A .257 Weatherby is a fine deer rifle. A little $$$ much for me. I know someone that has one and it leaves my Brownings in the dust.

Tobias, you are correct, the Arsenal Group, would be better suited, for discussing Air Rifles.

Paul, great looking buck and great looking knives!

Thanks guys!  I am very happy with it. 16.5" spread.

I used my .257 Weatherby Mag Ken. I handload all my own ammo. 71 grains of IMR 7828 behind a Barnes 100 grain TSX bullet. Hit the deer in the heart and did some major damage to it.
