Queen City Cutlery’s WWII Fighting Knives

Queen City had a number of contracts with the Government during WWII and also supplied other cutlery companies in their war effort. From the company records that were discovered just last year by the new owner, we know that Queen City supplied product to the Jersey City Depot from May 1944 through October 1954. In addition Queen City furnished knives for Williams Brothers Cutlery in California from Nov. 18, 1942 into December, 1945. They were their biggest customer.

A news article in the Titusville Herald in October, 1944 notes Queen City’s contribution to the war effort. The cutlery was employing 54 men and women at the time.

Thanks, Ryan.  Guess I have to go on the hunt for a Queen fighting knife now.  I have a WWII Cattaraugus 225-Q.

Very interesting!

Excellent article thank you David and Ryan!!  I think I need one too but I want the pruner :)

That news article is a wonderful research tool.  Now I know the names of those gentlemen  who left Schatt & Morgan and started Queen City Cutlery.  I have not been able to find that information previously.

Thank you for finding and sharing this information.
