Do you have any? Especially the U.S. made Schrade Scrimshaws?

I always like them. I know, they were delrin handles and the scrimshaw was impressed into the handles, but, they were an inexpensive way to have that scrimshaw look and they were just neat to collect. People at one time were really into them. (Taylor has continued with them to some extent, but, is it just me, or are the new ones just not as nice? Not as detailed and as good quality as the originals?)

You could collect them several ways. Buy the whole sets every year, pick a favorite theme, pick a favorite pattern, etc.

I collected mainly by theme (the animal). That would give me different patterns.

Another neat thing is they had the year on them.

A couple of originals..............

Most real Scrimshaw's, that I see are signed. No matter what brand knife. There is exceptions, to this though.

Thanks for the info.  My knife is not as nice as the ones on ebay . It is in good condition , but has been used.

Your Schrade sc506 squirrel was made in 1982, A couple of them sold on ebay for between $50.00 and $70.00 You will notice a signature below the scrimshaw that says F.Giorgiani82. Most of Frank Giorgiani's work is signed and dated like this. I hope this has been of some help.
Sincerely,
John

Usually pawn shops are hit or miss for me, today I think I hit a home run.
The 1988 catalog lists this as the scrimshaw gunstocks trapper lock blade. I understand that this is a high carbon steel blade. Pawn shop had it listed at 29 but when I started looking at a cheaper knife the sales man said he would take 20 out the door, I tried to hide my smile when I said yes.
Even with the original box, slider and paper work.
Whoever had before kept it in excellent shape, no marks showing it had been ever sharpened.
Almost too pretty to carry, almost :)

Sweet find.

Mint condition with all the paperwork and packaging. The Schrade+ High carbon Stainless blades are perfect for a display knife such as this anyway.

Yep! I'd say you got a pretty sweet deal on that one. Congratulations!
