We all love this pattern but who was the first to think of the design, who first manufactuerd the stockman and what thing or things could they have done to make it better?

I think NAPANOCH was one of the first to make this pattern. They made one with a double fluted punch blade that was stamped on the back side PAT'D 4/7/08. That punch blade repaired alot of leather harness and the spey blade changed alot of bulls into FERDINAN.

Wow that's funny you know when I think of Napanoch I think of Elephant toenails. I remember somewhere back in the gray matter that our very own Scott King and Cutlery News Journal had an article about the company. They also did perform manufacturing for a number of companies including WR Case &Sons.
