Thanks, everyone for playing along, it shows we still have a little youth left in us. Maybe more in me than most. But ya'll still haven't guessed the right knife. Ha-Ha!

  • In Memoriam

    Robert Burris

So that's what's wrong with the coffee. No Miss Jan, it's the Festival International de Louisiane. There's people from all over the USA and world there.
  • J.J. Smith III

I had to skip the Crawdaddy Festival, that they had downtown today, and went to the knife show, upstate.

    Sorry bout the extra sugar...

    (But she tries AWEFUL hard.)

  • Jan Carter

JJ - that would have been a tuff choice for me, but the knives would have won I am sure.  Honey, a little sugar never really hurt anyone :)

  • J.J. Smith III

Hey Robert,  I guess I'll have to show my Bulldog first.

  • In Memoriam

    Robert Burris

Hey guys, here's the little beauty I told ya'll about. I think I might start collecting them.

  • Frank Stennett

    It's pretty enough to collect.
  • Bill Fletcher

I was bit by BullDog Brand's Cotton Sampler and Sunfish patterns.  One thing about Bulldogs once they grab your attention they tend to hold it . LOL.  Neat Whittler JJ and Robert a fine Birthday Trapper as one could wish for.  All the best, Bill

  • J.J. Smith III

Hey fella's. I hear the dogs howling...
  • Bill Fletcher

  • In Memoriam

    Robert Burris

You're right Bill, the picture just does not do it justice.  I really like it. I would love a cotton sampler but can't find one. Yep, I hear them dogs a calling me.
  • Jan Carter

That Bluetick sure gets around.  I had never seen one until about 3 weeks ago.  I have started keeping an eye out for both those peices.  Robert, that is a good looking trapper.  The girls did good

Quick, someone whittle a birthday cake!
  • Jan Carter

    and whittle some candles too

  • Jan Carter

This was the closest thing I could find although I swear JJ could do it better, we can't let him make his own Birthday cake...

**NEW** WOODEN CHOCOLATE CAKE....with plate and knife!

  • In Memoriam

    Scott King

We'll let him take the first bite :)
  • J.J. Smith III

    Looks good.  Thanks guys...

  • In Memoriam

    Robert Burris

J.J. I hope you didn't get too many splinters from that cake. The boss said let you take the first bite.
  • J.J. Smith III

    TOOTHPICKS...
  • J.J. Smith III

Like my profile pic is any better.

But the  food is good for something...

  • Jan Carter

Arthur its all good....I just cant think of a roadkill diet dish.  But let's all put our heads togeather and come up with something.  JJ, if it spills on the roadway can we use it for ingredients?

BUCKEYE, AZ...A tractor-trailer heading eastbound and carrying 40,000 pounds of lettuce overturned, spilling lettuce all over the roadway.

  • In Memoriam

    Robert Burris

A skinny roadkill possum might be considered a diet dish.
  • Jan Carter

OK, so now we have lettuce and a skinny roadkill possum.  Any more ingredients?  JJ, what do you think?
  • stephen tungate

theres going to be plenty of dead fish from the flooding.nothing like rotten cat fish for your diet...
  • Jan Carter

Thats the spirit Stephen...ya'll keep thinking on some ingredients and I'll get us something diet for the roadkill cafe's menu yet.
  • J.J. Smith III

    A "Skinny Possum"?

A friend sent me an e-mail the other day on "Southern Knowledge".  First thing on the list was,"A possum is a flat animal that sleeps in the middle of the road."

Other items that apply here at the diner are,  "You only own five spices: salt, pepper, mustard, Tabasco and ketchup"and   "Fried catfish is the other white meat". (If it falls outta the back of a pickup on the hiway),  And yes, Jan.  the lettuce is  considered roadkill.

How bout some roadkill beer with your meal?

Just want something sweet to tide you over till dinner?

You wont see THAT in one of them "DIVAS" commercials.

That's still not helping to come up with a "lite" menu, is it?

  • J.J. Smith III

Speakin of fish,  y'all be sure to check out the latest "Fish Story".
  • Jan Carter

OK, so we can certainly have fish on the menu.  JJ, if we marinate it in the beer, put the five spices on it, cook it on the sidewalk and serve it on a bed of lettuce with possum grits on the side...do we qualify as diet food?

  • In Memoriam

    Robert Burris

Possum belly has less calories, so make a little change. Mmm...mmm...goood!
  • stephen tungate

    sounds grrrreat....
  • J.J. Smith III

Is it a "Diet Food" if you eat 2 (or more) servings?

  • In Memoriam

    Robert Burris

Eat all the servings you want just drink a diet pop with it.
  • Jan Carter

So JJ we dont expect you to revise the menu but please hang a sign for our folks that are trying to maintain that youthful shape.  What shall we call out "creation"
  • Frank Stennett

Well J.J. I have started carving my first duck. Believe it or not I had to borrow a knife from a carver. The way it looks right now I ought to throw it in the highway, run over it for road kill, and cook that sucker or better yet use it for toothpicks.  Nay, I going to stick with it a little longer. Hate giving up.
  • J.J. Smith III

    IDK Jan.

    Drunken Possum in the Grass?

    Robert, what do you think?
