The community is invited to come on down to the Diner & General Store. Take a chair on the porch and sit a spell. Visit with your neighbors and see what's going on in town.
We have that talk all the time. Dave is actually a steel junkie. He prefers stainless in the field but he carries carbon also. I am ok with stainless but I prefer carbon to any other knife blade
That was taken here this week in the bay, by Anna Maria Island. Tampa Bay is a shark estuary during the summer, The hammers and bulls come to have thier babys and eat Tarpon
We are planning on eating our way through the roadside fruit and veggie stands in PA. The best time of year to travel and the best way to eat when you do.
We're heading to PA near the end of the month. The roadside stands there are great. There's a stand, down the road from where we stay, that will sell homemade chicken-pot-pie, along with fresh corn. (Already have a couple of lunches planned...)
Well I just bought a portable house for my oldest grand daughter to live in. I'll be busy for a while. My friends and I will wire, insulate, A/C, and the carpentry thats left to do. She is very exited, so am I. I put it on my land near my house, great spot. I'll post a picture soon. Darn, think of the knives I could have bought. Oh well, I guess that's what old paw paws are for.
Hey, it comes with a small porch, you gotta love it. Thats it, I've been paying rent for an apartment for two years. She's gonna have her own Pad..lol...I love it.She'll be here with me.
Headin to the mountains for a few days to try to escape the heat. Takin' a few extra green-backs, that I've managed to put back, hoping to fine something new in the sharp and pointy catagory. SMKW is not in the picture but there are a couple of well supplied hardware stores nearby...
While we're gone, Uncle Silas will be minding the store.
have a great time jj maybe you can find something new for the menu.i hear we have a master judge on here for bbq arthur jordan maybe he can help.have fun....
Sure hope JJ is having a good time and staying cool up there. We should think of a special menu for when he gets back. Anyone got anything laying around?
How about some coon for grillin? Raccoon Kabobs (Also known as "Ringtail Surprise")
Two pounds, reasonably fresh raccoon, cut into one-inch cubes; one-half cup homemade French dressing; two green peppers, cut into squares; one large onion, cut into one-inch pieces; one-third pound mushroom caps.
Place raccoon cubes in a ceramic bowl and pour dressing over cubes. Let marinate two or more hours. Remove cubes, reserving marinade. Alternate raccoon cubes with pepper squares, onion pieces and mushroom caps on skewers. Brush all with reserved marinade and broil over hot coals until done to desired degree. Turn frequently and baste with marinade as needed.
i think maybe some peach tree bark would fit this calling it will throw some peach flavor to the mix jan and maybe some peach schnapps to wash it all down.. jj see what your missing....
so much for the main dish, Stephen ahs the perfect wood for our fire. How about if we add some fried Okra, greens and cornbread. any ideas on the desert?
Peach cobbler sounds good for desert. Topped with some home churned ice cream.
No new whittlers this trip. Hope the PA trip will be more friutful.
I did find a new CASE Humpback Stockman with the black synthetic "GumFuddy" handles. I've been looking at them for a while and decided to bite. Don't know whow was in charge of sharpening, up at Bradford, the day it was made, but they sure got it right. All three blades were shaving sharp, right out of the box.
I sure hope that there is some wi-fi available for our Pennsylvania trip, so I can halfway keep up with what's going on here at iKC.
I will bet you had a time getting through the emails after this trip. A lot of activity going on. The Case looks great and I am sure it will work well for you. Thanks for sharing that. We left some dinner for you in the icebox buddy

Shark fishing should only done with a diving knife and three cuts on your left arm for faster attraction.
Like hunting tiger in India with a bamboo spear while walking your goat.
