A good friend call me from the camp this AM. and said he had shot a 7 foot Gar fish with his bow and they were heading in to clean and weigh it. Good chance we're gonna have bar-b-que, gar fish. I hope they took some pictures. I'll post some if they did. It's time to finish that cabin and get to the woods.
  • Jan Carter

So what did the Gar weigh?

    Robert Burris

Sorry, too busy to find out. I should know something this weekend when I get over there. I should call him but its late right now.
  • Jan Carter

    JJ,

What do you think of the new whittler coming out?

  • In Memoriam

    Robert Burris

What's wrong with the picture? Is he a whittler or a painter? Maybe one blade should have a brush...lol
  • Jan Carter

LOL, that would certainly be different wouldn't it?
  • J.J. Smith III

Looks like someone has been playing with potoshop, them secondaries could use a bit of work, but the wharnie looks nice.

    Gipetto would be proud.

  • Jan Carter

LOL, your right.  They have not released the knife for sale yet so the pictures show the blades before they have been tipped and sharpened.  Cant wait to see this one in person
  • J.J. Smith III

What are the specs on it?
  • Jan Carter

Dont have the specs yet, but check out the pics of them building it

  • J.J. Smith III

Looks much better than the prototype.  Really like the looks of the Ebony wood scales. Bout perfect size too.

(Now I got to find a Tidioute dealer....)

  • Jan Carter

We have several that are IKC members Ken Mundhenk, Greg Holmes and Bob Andrews come to mind (hint hint)
  • Jan Carter

As the cooler weather sets in, does anyone have a GREAT chili receipe?
  • Jan Carter

JJ, you been to the seahorse whittler forum lately?  Just took a pic of some of the ones in the safe
  • J.J. Smith III

Just got back from NC and finally my isp finally gave me enough speed to have a gander. Nice herd of ponies.
  • Jan Carter

Thanks JJ, just ordered my Tidioute #57, when I get it I am going to try making my basket
  • J.J. Smith III

Jan,  I ordered mine today. :-)

I had wondered some time back about CASE making a smaller version of the a Seahorse,  they said that there were no plans to do that.

    This looks about perfect.

Even contacted Rough Rider, a couple of years ago, with the suggestion that they modify  one of their sleveboard whittlers, to include a wharncliffe.  It would have been about the same size.

  • Jan Carter

    Yeah JJ,

I am excited to hear your thoughts on it

  • J.J. Smith III

    Can't wait to hold it.

  • Jan Carter

    Are we there yet?
  • stephen tungate

if you had a sea horse and whaler and they had babies what would they look like.
  • Jan Carter

  • stephen tungate

wow very good looking knife jj that knife looks like it was built just for you sir.....
  • Jan Carter

It was, that pattern was the only way I could get him to try GEC
  • J.J. Smith III

It took them long enough to build the right whittler.

  • Jan Carter

I said they were good JJ, not fast... ROFL

  • Jan Carter

Cant wait to see it Robert.  You got a good chili receipe Robert?

  • In Memoriam

    Robert Burris

    Chili

    1/2 lb beef suet

    3 lbs coarsely ground chuck

    2 large onions, chopped

    4 cloves garlic, minced

    16-ounce can tomato paste

    4 tablespoons chili powder

    1 teaspoon oregano

Tony's Creole Seasoning or salt and pepper

4 cups beef stock (fresh or canned)

    1 1/2 cups freshly-cooked pinto beans

Heat suet in deep fry pan or Dutch oven; add ground beef seasoned with Tony's Creole Seasoning or salt and pepper, onions, and garlic. Fry meat until brown; add tomato paste, beef stock, cumin, chili powder, oregano and simmer slowly for about 2 hours. If you plan to use the beans, add them to the Dutch oven 15 minutes before serving.

The floor got put down today then the shoe molding and then the couter and cabnets followed by Paw paws little brain...lol
  • Jan Carter

That seems to be an awful lot in one day.  Rest that brain, I am sure there must be something that needs done tomorrow
  • Jan Carter

Thanks for the Chili recipe :)
  • Jan Carter

Well it is below 80 for the first time in many many months.  The house is open, the air is off and a potroast is in the oven with all the trimmings.  Anyone care to join us?
  • J.J. Smith III

Frost on the punkins this morning.
  • Billy Oneale

It was 30 when I left for work on Friday morning. It was the first frost here.
  • Jan Carter

It was a nice 68 here today.  Wish we could keep that
  • Frank Stennett

No frost in Charleston, SC yet.
  • Frank Stennett

Got two scout knives from Kennesaw and one SMKW. Christmas is getting near. Had only one goblin haloween. People are laying low.
  • J.J. Smith III

Current temp is 65, up from 34 this morning.
  • Jan Carter

Your right Frank, people are laying low.  We usually have a few dozen ghouls but this year, less than 1 dozen.  Show us the knives?
