Well Stephen, fried alligator is my oldest grand daughter favorite. I always cook it on her birthday. She was born in September, which makes it easy for me because September is Alligator season here in Louisiana. The way you saw them cook it on that TV show is Alligator Courtbouillon. I might try put the reciepe on later.
We cheated today. Just too hot to cook, so we hit a local BBQ shack. Ribs, fried chicken, pulled pork, corn on the cob, slaw, greens, butter beans, ect...
Well, I had to cook a rack of pork ribs and a half dozen chicken leg quarters, out side on the pit, while everyone else was cooking the side dishes, inside. I think theres something wrong with this set up...Oh well, Pawpaw can do it...lol I hope everyone had a great 4th of July. God Bless America!
Last night for the BDay boy we did steak and Baked Potatoes. A friend went to the Maytag Ranch in CO and brought us back a steak. The best I have ever eaten!
From their website..
Our cattle are born and raised on Maytag Mountain Ranch’s 2,953 acres of lush and green natural grasses, and the cattle enjoy warm days and cool nights. An intensive rotational grazing system ensures our cattle have plenty of fresh grass to eat; our pastures are never artificially fertilized and our cattle drink the spring water that flows on the Ranch. We never use hormones or antibiotics, and the entire Ranch is certified Organic. Our cattle are not taken to the feedlot to be “finished.” Instead they fatten on natural grass, every day of their lives — the way nature intended. Our system is better for your health… Maytag Mountain Ranch’s famous grass fed beef has higher levels of Omega 3 fatty acids, which lower the risk of heart disease, and which may reduce the risk of cancer. It is also lower in total fat than beef from conventionally raised (corn finished) cattle, resulting in fewer calories. Best of all, it tastes great!
woohoo. JJ we are leaving on Monday. PA is beautiful this time of year. The house sitter moves in to take care of things here, Casey dog goes with us and I am ready to be away from the grind for a few days
We wont be there till the 29th. Karlee has a BJJ competition in Atlanta, next weekend.
Titusville is a bit further up (almost 300 miles) from where we'll be. I don't think the wife and kids would go for a 11 hour day trip, just to visit GE. I've been wanting to visit Bradford (roughly 250 miles), and hanen't got there yet.
I must have done something good today. I found another American Blade whittler at my favorite fleamarket knife dealer. 2 whittlers and 2 stockmans now.
LOL...Back to chicken ceasers for the week. I did make Donnie some shrimp salad for the week though. I know he gets tired of eating just the green salads with me :)
Well Miss Jan, I couldn't make it on just salads. I have a sister in law that is a vegiterian and eats only raw food on top of that. I'm sorry, I'm a meat eater, each to their own. Hey, is there any Cajun recipes, you would like to know? Let me know.
Robert, I have been itching to do some fired soft shell crawfish. Just trying to find someone around here that can get me a few and big enough. I love then with a good hollindase sauce. served up with some okra
The last "road meal" was at the Bob Evans in Rock Hill, SC. Had an ear doctors appt this morning and took the girls to McD's, for lunch.
Crawdads sound like heaven...
I have already decide that this weekend, we will have a fish fry, for the family. We will have fried Sac Au Lait, shirmp and [you better believe it] some gator, with some Cajun fries and hush puppies. Yea buddy, I can't wait.
That really sounds good, Rob! I sure wish that I lived in your neighborhood, I might try to weasel myself a taste of that delicious sounding feast you'll be having. *big grin*
Well Ron, the girls and boyfriends are gonna do a bunch of work for me saturday, so this is a treat to repay the free help. I would welcome you to the fry but you might get caught up in some work...lol
The name of the place is "the Habit," right down the road from where I live, and the above order is a triple char -- triple meat, triple cheese, hold the lettuce and add lots of raw onions -- with french fries, pickled jalapenos and hot peppers. And ketchup, of course. Not shown in the pic was the the extra thick chocolate shake.
Now, let me take you in tight on the steaming hot pile of cow flesh...
Yum! That's what I'm talkin' about! That was my dinner tonight.
