The community is invited to come on down to the Diner & General Store. Take a chair on the porch and sit a spell. Visit with your neighbors and see what's going on in town.
For Mother's Day I'll be making my wife Lemon Pepper chicken, red potatoes, green beans, biscuits. Then we'll sit on the couch and watch a nice romantic movie. Make some popcorn. The restaraunts will be crowded so this will be more cozy. She deserves pampering, especially after doing the Race For The Cure. She's a 15 year survivor of breast cancer and myn hero!
Wow Chuck, bless her heart, for her ordeal and trying to help others. Well, my Mom had an operation on her hand this past week and it's not going good. She'll be alright, she is just suffering and not sleeping. I am cooking a beef roast, potatoes and green beans. I'll just bring her a plate when it's ready. I told her, she will do anything to upgrade her Mothers Day gift...LOL Happy Mothers Day to all ya'll mothers.
Well, being Sunday I did a bit of cooking to get Donnie through the next few nights. After a 10 hour day, I just want a salad but he works hard and needs a bit more than that. I made a mess of blackeyes with snaps, and another pot of baby butter beans.
For my birthday dinner tonight, I had BBQ baby back ribs, roasted corn on the cob, and topped everything off with cake, ice cream, and strawberries. Yum, yum.
This evening we had kind of block party, My neighbor Don is a Vietnam vet..So we invited him his wife and Chris a neighbor across the street...So in 1.5 hours notice...we had steaks marinating in my secret stuff...baked potato's cooked and in foil to go on grill, half corn on the cobs cooked buttered in foil ready to go on grill, and I made a big batch of stove baked beans with fresh yellow peppers. we also had pop and chips with spinach dip and lots of great conversation, Don let us know how his war experience went and also the rough stuff on arriving home with the protesters spitting on him etc.
I thanked him for his service in keeping our nation free.
Remember your Vets!
oh! we did have these chocolate cupcakes with ANTZ rings on top...we all had blue mouths and tongues from the icing....ROFL
Sounds like a great party, to honor our vets. My dad was a World War II Vet, I was so proud of him as a boy. Thanks, Miss Sue, for reminding us the reason for the season. Tell, Don, thanks for his service.
