Well the turn out at SMKW Presidents day was spectacular.  It was great to see so many young folks there.  The day started with a boy scout troop and those young boys were having FUN!  They were looking at pocket knives a lot like we do LOL, with stars in their eyes.

A great morning of meeting folks, was followed by some great visiting time.  You know it never ceases to amaze me that so many people in the knife world recognize the need for bringing the next 2 or 3 generations into our hobby.  This company was started by a dad making a Christmas present for his son, something they could do together.  A few short months later he was unemployed and looking for a way to make some money to support his family so he began to produce them.  This year they introduced a trapper pattern in a numbered version, and  short run off 100 in the numbered series.  For the Parents and Grandparents among us...I encourage you to get a few of these.  Spend some fun time with your loved ones building one and teaching how a knife is built and I think it is a great way to start the safety conversation.

I have a video of the presidents drawing the knife of day winner and I will place it here.  Just cant upload it here on this tiny laptop.  But congratulations to Goose for being the winner of the day

My day at SMKW ended with some time with the Case Collectors Club.  Up to this point I had had such a fantastic day I could not imagine it getting any better, but it certainly did.  This quickly became the highlight as I watched the roundtable and the fun they had in listening to Lisa Bosier-Miller tell a story as they passed their knives to right or left based on words in the story.  Then this generous, knife loving group of folks came out to the museum and proceeded to donate glass panels for the museum displays in memory of their loved one and friends gone.    Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart.  Not just on behalf of the museum but from a lady that is more proud today than ever to belong to such a group

  • Chuck Parham

Agreed! That was a great video showing the kits. Steve, I know SMKW recently showed 5 different kits or you could buy all 5 at a savings. Can't remember if they had a Stockman. We need more things like this for the kids to get interested and involved in knife collecting and making.

Good stuff. Wish I could have been there. A wood Stockman kit would be great!

  • Paul Work

Those kits are cool.  I have a mini Trapper.

I have the Case Canoe wood kit. I had fun putting it together. Of course I'm 63 going on 12.

  • Chuck Parham

Steve, I'll go back through my catalogs and find that grouping of 5 kits and let you know which catalog it was in. It was very recently and I have every catalog they've put out since I started collecting. I keep them for reference and research.

Ya'll be sure to check out the knives live contest for the week.  Your gonna like it

What kind of wood do you think ya'll would like? A burl, Ebony, Oak or curly maple. I love a natural wooden handles on knives. I guess, I'm just old fashion. Very good choice, Craig.

  • Billy Oneale

Desert ironwood looks really good also

    I like most woods myself.

There IS talk over on the Case Collectors Club about having more knives done with wood handles. A lot have been asking for them!

Why not Craig, that would be more useful than a lot of the stuff they fund.  And remember they are doing it with our money.  They don't seem to remember that the money is ours, not theIRS.

  • Featured

    Craig Henry

You're right Charles, it would be better than MOST of the stuff they throw our money away on!

Besides, what's more important than knives?

I have decided that if I win the KnivesLive Case count contest, I will donate the Hat to this Case Knife Group. The group can do whatever they want with it. Auction it, Raffle it, or maybe Donate it to someone. Maybe Clints Kids. But don't get your hopes up, I never win anything...lol

  • Tobias Gibson

I have decided that if I win,  I will go hide in the basement as it surely will be a sign that the end are upon us!

I hope Ya'll understand, I think this is a neat prize. I just want someone that would really, really want it, to have it or help this Case club. I guess, I should have kept quite, and see if I won. My chances are slim, so, no harm done.... I hope.

I'm in the same boat. I never win anything.

If you win it Robert, just come over here and throw it on the floor and watch all of us wrestle for it! LOL!
