Hi Bjorn. Redundacy is key plus I say to evarybodu you need to have the right tool for the right job there is nothing like a universal knife or tool that can do every task. I do not carry all that stuff on my person the whole day because I work in a office but I have at least 2 knives plus multitool on me while other ones are in my bag or jacket. If the last EDC picture was to much for you here I did a photo of my today's my today's EDC
you are so right, no one item can do everything, but your pockets can only hold so much stuff:-) you mind telling me whats in the picture?
i would like to take a picture of my EDC but i am at the moment expanding it to accommodate my new way of thinking. until recently i was without a knife and just carried a giant multitool mostly. but have now started thinking a bit different, started with me expanding my outdoor gear and now realized that i want to get myself a descent EDC kit as well.
today i carry a spyderco ambitious for work(opening and cutting boxes) and a benchmade mini grip for after work. a no name flash LED flashlight, gonna upgrade that to the led lenser V2 and a streamlight stylus pro for redundancy. i have a leatherman juice S2 multi tool on my side everywhere and a leatherman wave to go in my bag( unfortunently ATM misplaced) pen and paper of course and phone and a large first aid kit, gonna down size that to a more portable kit though, takes up almost all the room in my compartment in the bag so wanna sort that out. i am getting there slowly:-)
That is nice Bjorn you have to take in consideration that if you caring all that extra weight it has meaning and one day maybe it helps you to save a persons life I think to carry even one single blade can mean in a certain situation a lot of differences even if you thin of a hostile situation or a rescue situation. There for i carry so much stuff. I need to add that my EDC pouch is not on the picture because usually during the week i have it at my drawer in the office I can make some pictures and send them to you but the point is to make your own EDC pouch or bag fill it with stuff you think you will perhaps need during the day. I think that the basic stuff is like you have at you some kind of first aid kit a light source, extra knife or safety razor some tape pack of gum or sugar as for extra energy you never know when you or somebody in your proximity will be in need. The list can go on and on.
As for what is on the table: My ixus pouch with a canon IXUS 130 camera under it tripod usb key leatherman skeleton leatherman Squirt PS4 leatherman Squirt S4 My valet it is some AVON brand product my sister gave it to me Samsung galaxy s1 HTC Desire S Endura 4 PSHG Delica 4 PHG Meadowlark 2 FRN PFFG dragonfly 1 FRN SFFG Leather change bag - this was a gift from a god friend from US Lansky keychain crock sticks (nice portable ceramic sharpener) Smith's 3in1 pocket sharpener this was again a gift Victorinox SD black Victorinox super thinker Sreamlight microstream
i think what you state in the beginning of your post is a realization that i have come to, maybe i am getting old:-) but the fact of carrying stuff for helping others is number one, doesn't matter if its just helping someone unscrew something or handing them a pair of scissors or if it´s literally saving their life with my first aid pack. i wanna help others, thats number one. i would really appreciate the pictures mate if its not to much of a hassle, i need the ideas, got some of my own but more never hurts, like i said, i got a great first aid kit but its WAY to big, needs to be downsized.
other then that i see the lovely delica in your EDC, i am getting one next time i order from the US, purple plain grind and a streamlight stylus pro. squirt is on my list aswell, got more then half prize at work on all leathermans so going a bit leatherman crazy at the moment:-) thinking about the style just for the twizzers
yes Bjorn I think you understand the sole purpose of EDC it is not just about me. I'm a human and i wont and cant just stand by and do nothing if someone is in need of help and that could be my colleague, neighbor, roommate or and animal in distress. We do care about others that is why we are willing to trade some comfort every day. I strongly advice all my friend to at least carry a knife and to say the truth it is not a easy process but wit some time and work you cand persuade them. For every EDC person in your proximity your safety increases because even we could some day be in a situation when we need help and even when other ones want to help you but are not prepared or don't have the right tool they can't be helpful. I will make pictures as soon as i have time so you can see my EDC pouch.
i have been trying to convert people i know too. unfortunently with the knife laws here people are not inclined to carry one, the laws are to fuzzy about what is and isn't legal so people are scared. i converted a college of mine though got him to buy a delica.
couldnt help myself been fiddling with my first aid kit here for the past hour taking it down to bare necessities. got a new bag today so trying to work out where to put everything. this i love the fiddling about and moving stuff around, same with EDC knives and load out.
It's not fuzzy at all, Björn. If you for some reason need a knife you can carry one. If people can't even google the Swedish Police homepage and look up "knife law" it's their problem.
Did you hire an assistant to help you carry all that stuff? Between my pockets, my briefcase, I too carry much of the things you show in your picture. My selections are different, but similar. In my vehicle I have much more; road flares, blankets, folding shovel, saw, tube tent, 3 cell flashlight, industrial first aid kit, and of course more knives.
I noted that you don't seem to have any fire starters; matches, lighters.
Except of that little pouch on the right where mi pocket sharpening tools are I can carry everything on my belt or in my pocket but as I mentioned I have other stuff that is in my backpack in my bigger EDC pouch (first aid kit fire starter multiple options ect.) right now at work in office :( if you pack all the stuff there is not so much of it one knife per pocket the other staff is small potato's :) no assistant necessary.
You certainly have a good kit and I think you are ready to provide assistance in most emergencies. It is better to have the tools and never need them, then to need them and not have them.
You got that right. Exactly my way of thinking some of my friend making fun of me because of all the stuff I have by my self but when something happens I'm prepared.
just got my neww knife yesterday, a CRKT ignitor sport,my first aassisted opening, and i am totally loving it!! sitting here with a sore thunb though because of all the playing around with it
yes patrik, it will probably be my EDC for a couple of months.loving A/O will probably get a few more in the near future..just gotta learn to tacle all the ignorant people over here that think that an assisted opening is the same as a automatic which is illegal......got the knife law in my pocket now adays.
LOL! I have about 6 of them waiting their turn for an article. I know what your mean. These are good knives for the money. CRKT is a good bunch of people too.
Last Thursday and Friday, my Dad and I went to Matador, TX to visit the people at Moore Maker Inc. Our two day trip was fun and full of adventure. While at Moore Maker's, my and Dad and I were presented with a Moore Maker (made by Canal Street Cutlery) small double lock back pocket knife, a key fob, a coin and a very small anvil. The knife is of first quality as Dave and his Dad Wayland demand this from their producers. I look forward in carrying this little pocket knife.
That small anvil is really nice, Clint. I can think of any number of things I could use that for. That's great that you and your Dad could enjoy such an adventure together.
Did you go on a research trip? It is indeed nice that you and your Dad could spend time making this trip together. I look forward to hearing about the double lock back and how it performs for you, it is a pretty sweet knife. The lower pic has some nice models in it also
Thanks Jan. In fact I visited Moore Maker for an article I will write later this year. I would go to their web site and order one of their catalogs. They have some real traditional knives. The deer antler is just gorgeous. We talked about them doing a tactical knife from one of the traditional patterns. I showed them the Case single bladed Trapper/Tactical I carry now. They were interested.
Yes Dad and I had a great time. Good father and Son bonding.
That looks like a super carry knife to me. From a utility standpoint I think it's one of the best patterns ever devised and this one is very well executed. Unexcelled (UNXLD)
