I'm thinking about making a BIG change though. I might get one in stag to carry......or Buffalo horn......LOL!

  • Patrik Ilijev

I got the other day my first benchmade the mini 745 Dejavoo.

O man that is one smooth knife only down side is the one position pocket clip.

But as all designs from the late Bob Lum also this one is outstanding now I really want the onslaught...

    I love it!

  • Ron Cooper

    Nice lookin' knife, Patrik!

I'm a "tip up" kind of guy myself. So, like with Spydero's Military, I would also find the one position clip to be restrictive. But, hey! If that's the only flaw in this knife then I think that I could easily learn to live with it. It's also nice to see a Benchmade knife with a locking mechanism something other than their standard axis lock. I'm probably one of the few who prefers a liner lock.

It sure is a good looking knife!

  • Patrik Ilijev

Hi Ron I also prefer the Liner lock. This knife Is like a spyderco. I'm a huge spyderco fan and collect mainly spyderco knifes but also other production brands.

That IS a good looking knife!

  • Billy Oneale

Benchmade makes some really good knives. Nice one, Patrik.
  • James Cole

Patrik, just practice drawing the knive each day and soon you will be comfortable with the tip down carry.  My CRKT M16 is a liner lock and I practice with it a couple time a week using both hands.

    James and Patrik.....

If we are talking about drawing the knife in an emergency......Yes muscle memory is the best way so practice.  However, unless there is a significant difference in the feel of the top of the knife, muscle memory will not work. In law enforcement we do not like to carry a revolver one day and an automatic the next, as muscle memory gets confused on which gun we are pulling from which holster.  The feel of a revolver is greatly different than an automatic.  I carry a 1911 auto model identical to the Colt 1911.  For different duties and carry needs I have three different 1911 models I carry.  I have a Kimber Ultra Carry with a 3" barrel, a Kimber Pro Carry with a 4" barrel and a SigArms 1911 with a 5" barrel all of which shoot the .45acp.  The point is if you feel you need a knife for emergency split second usage then carry the same knife model everyday.  For smaller usage at your desk or opening the mail you can carry a smaller pocket knife like a Victorinox Signature.

As far as carrying point up and point down I prefer point up but it is not a game stopper.

  • James Cole

    Clint,

You are absolutely right. I haven't changed my EDC in many years, I did however moved my CRKT M16 from the right back pocket to the right front pocket a couple of months ago and just the other day I found myself reaching for it in the back pocket; long memory of long usage.

  • Patrik Ilijev

Clint you nailed it! this dejavoo is one of those handy smaller knives and I was carrying it on my weak side but on my strong side I do carry my tactical blade.

  • Patrik Ilijev

Yes Billy I know most of their production are US made so naturally the quality level should be higher than in other production knives made in like the most in China.

The price does reflect this of course I want to try more of them out and have a couple of griptilian's on the way to me.

  • Alexander Noot

That's a nice on Patrik. Wish mr. Lum designed more lefthand carry friendly options. I've seen quite a few of his designs that I really like.

  • Patrik Ilijev

    Hi Alexander.

Check out the spyderco Chinese Lum series of knifes.

Those are not mine here on the picture but I did bough 2 variants will post some pictures when they arrive. Currently I have just one small Lum Chinese that is pimped.

  • James Cole

I know you love it now, but how will you feel in 6220 days?

  • Featured

    Craig Henry

Like I need a case of Peanuts.

  • James Cole

Case has a 5220 in brown that looks pretty good.  You might think about whether your little guy might be lonely and need a companion.

  • Patrik Ilijev

  • Clint Thompson

    Nice Patrik!

  • Patrik Ilijev

O yes Steve you can this knife a outstanding worker has a perfect gimping or striation's on the top of the blade where you can lock your thumb. I will post a demo vid on you-tube soon.

  • Lee Smith

going to post this twice. once here because I finally got the matched set of edc knives that I have been wanting. Deep canyon chestnut bone backpocket and a matching swayback jack. Both case knives.

  • Ron Cooper

Wowsa, Lee! Those are both gorgeous looking knives! Those deep canyon scales are just about perfectly matched. They look like two pups from the same litter! I have been a fan of the Backpocket for a while. But that Swayback Jack looks really nice, too! I may have to get my hands on one of those!

Cheers, mate - thanks for sharing your matched set!

  • Lee Smith

Thanks Ron I got real lucky got them both from different places and at different times.. both off of the net too. lol

  • Clint Thompson

    Sweet Lee!  I like!

  • Billy Oneale

    Nice knife, Patrik
  • Billy Oneale

  • Ron Cooper

Wowsa! Craig, what is that? Like a barn-board-bone, or sumthin'? Sure is purty, whatever it is!

  • Clint Thompson

Real nice Craig.  I would say it is a modified Stockman.  I like the scales too.  Barn wood would be my description as well Ron.
