Swiss Army Knives

Do you love sak's? This is the place to be

  • Chris Stookey

I've been a proud Swiss Army knife owner for over 30 years. My first Swiss Army knife was of the typical Red plastic handled variety. Since that first one, I've managed to become "addicted" to collecting a variety of the Victorinox brand. Recently, I've developed a particular affinity for the Alox handled versions, with the Cadet model leading the way. Youtube ace, Nutnfancy turned me onto these. He also put me onto the Blue Alox handled "Farmer"...and I really dig that model in a HUGE way. I like the finishes that are put on the Alox...both in color and texture. I also like that the Alox knives feel a little more..."significant". That said, I've not ignored the extremely cool plastic handled models that are out there and recently picked up a beautiful Saphire Blue Climber. Next on my Wish List is the translucent black handled type...preferably another Climber. I just dig the Swiss Army knives...they are wonderful tools.

Just bought a Classic pink Edelweiss for my neice, and a Wenger Std. Issue for myself, gotta love SAK'S!

I think Wenger and Victorinox are made in the same factory: the blades looks the same and some pieces (springs) are the same. What do you think?

I carry a Wenger I got in Hawaii in 1973. Still performs well.

Hi guys, I used to have a small Swiss army knife & I am now looking for one that is a great all rounder (Urban survival knife) what are you suggestions?
    Thanks.
  • Andy Voelkle "AxeMan"

Adam, I really prefer to pull mine out and marvel at the blade I'm using for the first time in 20 years (and how I HAVE it when I finally wanted to use it). And then take a look at the little blade I don't know 'what the heck' it is. To me, toting too much steel is just needed exercise. My Wenger of 36 years has a lot, but I'm moving up to a Swiss Champ or whatever under-$100 SAK I find that has more blades. Lose the fish scaler, guys!
