    Where's the mousy?

  • Thomas Leone

So glad to have found this group! I love all dogs and cats-rescued 6 pets, 2 were toy fox terriers and 4 cats. All lived long and happy lives and went to the Rainbow Bridge. Only have a black cat that came to my front door as a kitten~guess he decided that I was going to be his person! Wonderful loving cat although hard as can be to take a picture of him but will look at the ones I was able to take to show my kid off!

If anyone ever comes here and has/knows of a toy fox youngster, rescue is my first choice, please send me a line. I look everyday for one in the pounds, rescue groups, etc., but for some reason there aren't any in my area.

We lost our littlest toy fox to old age, she lived to 16 and was rescued from a bad breeder. My wife and I are still feeling the loss and miss her greatly.

Anyway, happy to look around this group for some smiles!

Short dog and cat story. My wife has a Great Pyranese and  a BUNCH of cats. One cat that stays in the house plays with Sawyer (Pyranese) all the time. One day I was cheering the dog on saying "GOBBLE KITTY, GOBBLE KITTY".  A few days later wife and I were in the kitchen. The cat was laying on the floor and the dog was sitting there. I decided to try something. I said "GOBBLE KITTY". The dog pounced on the cat and the playing began. Sawyer (dog) quit after 10 seconds or so and left the cat alone. I said "GOBBLE KITTY" again and the wrestling was on again. I couldn't believe he remembered what went on a few days before. I'd say it was 3 to 5 days before I invented "GOBBLE KITTY". I did this 3 or 4 times with the same results until wife said stop, the cat is getting tired. :)

  • Jan Carter

Great story but please be sure he doesnt gobble kitty or your wife will get you LOL

  • Jack Haskins, Jr.

Steve, if you aren't careful people will think you are a farmer. lol

All my life I've never had any "working" animals or pets. Now especially since my wife likes animals more than people. Sometimes I think she's right. Anyway, I've seen several situations where dogs and cats and other animals when they grow up in the same house they don't know there is a difference. Sleeping in the same bed and everything. Eating each other's food and playing together. Sometimes there are arguments (fights) but it seems to be on a situational case. Even though they like each other they get mad at each other.  Same with human children seems to me. Throw a bunch of kids of different nationalities together and they all play together. Arguments, yup. But it's not because of racial or environmental differences. It's because two kids want the same ball. LOL Then the adults get involved. OH NO! NOW THE TROUBLE STARTS. LOL

  • Jack Haskins, Jr.

Just one?  Is that common?  I don't think I've ever heard of any dog having only one puppy. Of course that doesn't mean much. I've never been involved with dog breeding so I don't know what is or isn't common. Cute puppy though. Don't forget to teach him (or her) "GOBBLE KITTY" lol (see my post on October 22)

    A Dog's Prayer

Treat me kindly, my beloved master, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me.

Do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I should lick your hand between the blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me do.

Speak to me often, for your voice is the world's sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footstep falls upon my waiting ear.

When it is cold and wet, please take me inside... for I am now a domesticated animal, no longer used to bitter elements... and I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth... though had you no home, I would rather follow you through ice and snow than rest upon the softest pillow in the warmest home in all the land... for you are my god... and I am your devoted worshiper.

Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for although I should not reproach you were it dry, I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst. Feed me clean food, that I may stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side, and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life, should your life be in danger.

And, beloved master, should the Great Master see fit to deprive me of my health or sight, do not turn me away from you. Rather hold me gently in your arms as skilled hands grant me the merciful boon of eternal rest...and I will leave you knowing with the last breath I drew, my fate was ever safest in your hands.

Something every dog owner should read.

I have two dachshunds, two Chihuahuas and 5 indoor/outdoor cats.  My daughters are 26 and 29 so the pets are our babies.

This is my Cookie.  She sits on my chair every night with me.

  • Richard Schuchman

I have two, Dot and Tonka. Both are rescues. Dot is a pit mix and we got first, Tonka is a boxer mix that we let Dot choose for us to get. She played with at least 10 others before settling on him, but he hard work shows. They're inseparable now.

Hello IKC K9 community! Great pics of the "kids"!

I am a "dog person"...and love to do obedience, therapy, and generally have fun with "the kids".

A little history about me...(other than being a knife enthusiast)

I was the President of The Upper Suncoast Dog Training Club in Clearwater Fl. prior to moving back to Ohio...in order to take care of the parents.

Before the Presidency,  I served on the B.O.D, and taught basic obedience classes for years. I absolutely love it....and since moving back....miss it dearly.

Anyhow... I look forward to seeing your "pups" and hearing about your experiences with them.

Have a blessed weekend, and 2017!

We have our first dog since we started having kids. Dawn and I had one when we first got together, but that was 22 years ago. A couple of my kids have been begging to get one for a couple of years now. Since they are older now, Sarah's boyfriend decided to get her one. They found a 1 yr. old pit bull/boxer mix. It seem to be a nice dog so far. She named it Diesel.

Ms Chelsea came to be a part of our home yesterday.  In temperament and looks she is a little carbon copy of Case and he is taking to the big brother roll very well.  Oh and she came with Gator colors on!!!

SO0oo very cool, Jan. Kudo's to you for adopting & essentially saving a life.

    .

When we went from 1 to 2 dogs .. the greatest advantage went to our canine children. They had a playmate in our absence & "accidents" (like coming home to a shredded catalog) went away. They became a team .. in so very many ways.

    .

    Again .. Kudo's to you & Donnie !!!

    ..&..

we now have 4 canine children in our household.

    !!! .. BIG smile .. !!!

  • John Kellogg

Congrats on the new family member Jan!  She's a real looker!

  • J.J. Smith III

    She's a cutie, Jan.
  • Jan Carter

Thanks all, she is a sweet little girl and she sure loves her big brother Case.

D ale, it was an easy decision, when they went to put her back in the cage, I saw Case (she is a carbon copy) and I just could not let her go back to the shelter.  Case was dog #2 for his first 2 years but for 5 years has been an only.  He has lots of friends to play with on the mountain but that is not the same as having your own puppy to play with whenever you want LOL
