I have a question for ya'll.Does the tang stamps on the fixed blades represent the same dating system as the folders. Example, Case XX USA  for folders is 1965-1969, a fixed blade with the same tang, will it be dated 1965-1969? Thanks.

    Craig Henry

Robert, if you scroll down Case has the Hunting/fixed blade tang stamps listed- http://www.wrcase.com/case_college/tang_stamps/

Anyone familiar with southerntackle.com for knives?

  • Tobias Gibson

Craig, not yet.  I'm saving up for a Stag Scout Jr.   I'll get the orange G10 later.  Hoping Case gets around to doing it in Real Tree Camo.  It seems like a no brainier to me.

Toby, I need to get one of those Scout Jr. sometime. Maybe in Amber Bone.

Hog, southerntackle.com has a lot of knives, and pretty good prices. I was wondering if anyone knows how good their service is.

  • Jan Carter

I dont know anything about Southern Tackle, anyone else?  They are in Louisiana

    Craig Henry

They have a pretty big selection of knives of various brands. Pretty good prices too. I can't find any reference on any forum of people buying from them. Strange. Who wants to be the guinea pig? HEY, let's get Mikey......

I've been wanting some fixed blades. I'm seriously considering this one. A VERY classic looking fixed blade.

  • Tobias Gibson

I only have one Case fixed blade, but its a beauty.  I'm partial to upswept skinners.

Case Ridgeback Hunter with Rosewood handle.

Wow, I like that one Toby! If/when I get that 365 (385?), I'm going to have to look at that 398 Ridgeback! ("A Blackie Collins Design")

  • Tobias Gibson

In all they have it with three different blades - drop point, caper, and up-swept skinner  Comes in Rosewood, black Zytel, and Real Tree Camo Zytel.  Zytel handled knives come with a nylon sheath.

    See http://www.wrcase.com/knives/view_all/ridgeback/

(only shows the Wood and Black Zytel)

Isn't this the most beautiful picture you've ever seen? WHAT?! You don't have a Case Peanut??? Shame on you!

  • Jean-François

    GREAT, Craig!

  • Billy Oneale

Nice pic, Craig. I think I only have 1 or 2 Case Peanuts. I'm not a big peanut collector, but I enjoy the pictures.

    Craig Henry

Thanks Billy and Jean. Of course I wish it was my picture. Peanuts always stalk me. I tell them I'm done with them, then they sneak up on me, grab me by the collar and say "BUY ME!".

  • Clint Thompson

In the Case fix blade arena I have a WWII vintage knife I found while junk shop hunting.  I just love that knife.

Real nice. Clint, I love those vintage knives.

  • Lee Smith

I picked this up at a flea market a couple of weeks ago. All I know is that SMKW got a thousand of them and it a humpback stockman with stag handles. I called them but could get no info other than that. Will post more pics.

It's a Case Classic that Jim Parker had made by Blue Grass Cutlery. Maybe Buzz found a bunch in his warehouse or is have them made new.

  • Jan Carter

    Lee it is a 1996

Case Classic 53046 Three backspring Whittler Stag handle knife with the pumpkin box

These were made after Parker left Case.  He held the licence for the Case Classics and Blue Grass Produced them to be distributed exclusively by Parker Knives

  • Lee Smith

Thanks Jan. That's a lot more info than I had. I need to buy some more books I guess.

  • Billy Oneale

    That's a nice knife, Lee.
