Jon,the Case Classic clasps were designated the same way with addition of a 0 in front of the 72-- often called the 1072 pattern- The 1 indicates the number of blades, the 0 means nothing, and the 72 is the pattern number-- They did this on 99% of them. However there are a couple that they left the zero out of.They got a little weird with the first number or letters that denote handle material. I think that they often used blades already in inventory on the low production or prototypes so sometimes they don't match up to the handle material. The 6 knives I showed are all celluloid handles- Starting from the top- knives 1,2,4, and 5 are all marked CT1072 -( the CT stands for Christmas Tree, another celluloid color). Knives 3 and 6 are marked 71072 the 7 being a designation for wood, although mine are celluloid-- Just an oddity with the Case Classics sometimes.
Jan, the only other name I have ever them called by was " the Boss" other than the ones I previously mentioned. The only times I have heard the term "lunchbox knife" was in reference to a cutlery company worker taking a production knife home in his lunch box, and modifying it in some way from the standard production version.
Hi Guys, my second lot of Case knife arrived today, i bought the complete series of Olive Green 125th Anniversary, 8 amazing knifes, oh boy i am in love with these Knifes, will post some pictures soon, lot of work.
hey JAN!..thats a purdy knife!!.. CASE AMBER BONE is what i collect when i shop for CASE..GREAT PIECE!! ...i dont own a single holiday knife either.. i havent jumped in on a contest in a bit..
JAN-LUNCHBOX KNIVES i have heard the term used as in " I work at a knife factory.the last thing my wife is giving me is one of our few good knives.I made my own lunchbox knife."--- makes sense.
Nice looking knife. Yes Christmas knives are nice to receive. I wish all of you a very good Thanksgiving and hope you all stay safe during this time of thanks.
Lee - Your "entertainment center" is AWESOME !! I love the way you have it set up so you can admire your knife collection during commercials. Thanks for making me feel much less guilty about my OCD knife collecting.
