I find it shocking that they were willing to tell us what kind of steel they were using in the German knives (440C) but they are secretive about what kind of steel Tru-Sharp Stainless is. LOL
I only buy two or three Case knives a year. I kicked off this year with a lowly Sodbuster. I picked up used Junior and it was looking lonely. I debated posting a picture of it as it such an ugly duckling compared to all the knives Craig has posting. I promise my next Case will be something more better pretty! This one is the basic black with a blade stamp. The tang stamp is for a 2014 production year. You can't buy a more ho-hum knife! Maybe I'll step up a notch and get the Yellow comp with a CV blade!
I love the Case Sodbuster and buy these for gifts for my nephews. My EDC is a Case single blade trapper with liner lock and pocket clip. Fred sent this to me and I have carried it every day since. Great knives.
What I love about the Delrin handled Sodbusters is the wonderful brass "Bird's Eye" rivet at the pivot. The reason I haven't picked up one of the bone handle Case Soddy's is because it lacks the Bird's Eye. It just doesn't seem like a proper Sodbuster without the Bird's Eye.
I might have to pick up one in the Blue Workman's Series as well as the Yellow Delrin. Case would be smart to offer the Sodbuster abd Sodbuster Jr. in a multitude of colors similar to the way Victorinox does with its knives these days. It would be perfect for the Case Collector on a budget!
I like a sodbuster, very basic and simple knife. I have a buddy who prefers not to have or carry a knife with only one blade. His theory is, if he was to break a blade he would be without unti he got another knife.
I really like the sodbuster. It is the perfect utility knife that you dont have to baby. I am glad they are adding some variety to the sodbuster line up also.

CASE CLASSICS WAS WHEN JIM PARKER SR. OWNED CASE COVERED MOST OF PATTERNS AT THE TIME BASICALLY SAME KNIFE WITH ETCHED BLADE AND A LIMITED ( NUMBERED) EDITION FOR EACH PATTERN I DON'T HAVE ANY BUT I HAVE LIMITED EDITIONS (NOT CLASSIC) MADE BY CASE OF ALL PATTERNS THEN NO DOTS ON ALOT OF THEM YEAR KNIFE WAS MADE INSTEAD ON TANG
WHEN I TRY TO GIVE INFORMATION FOR THE GROUP PLEASE DON'T THINK I AM BEING A KNOW IT ALL FAR FROM IT I CAN'T EVEN REMEMBER THE PATTERN NUMBERS ARE ANY MORE JUST GIVIN INFO NOTHING MORE
Oh my goodness! I bought my first Case today. A beautiful blue med. Stockman. I feel like I've never owned a real knife prior to this! I'm carrying it. There's no way I can leave this little treasure sequestered in its box. I am sooooooo happy!
Here's several new handle materials Case is coming out with this Summer.......of course I'm showing just the Peanut but there's a number of patterns for each one. And yes, I'm getting all of the Peanuts. ;-)
Black Cherry Bone, Burnt Amber Bone, Gray Sycamore Wood, Rough Olive Green Synthetic, Red Sparkle Kirinite.

I suppose I should've also put up a pic of the Sodbuster Jr. It has a tang stamp of CASE XX/ U.S.A. The number on the tang obverse is 2137. (1965-69)
