Clint is working on getting us a pic of his garter knives.  In the meantime here is one

  • Jan Carter

LOL, I will bet she guarded the sour dough better than her knickers...

    C) protect, not only her knickers, but also a jar of sourdough yeast starter .

  • Clint Thompson

    Jan...

Well here is my Lady of the Evening garter Dagger.  I had to find the Bank open to get it out of the deposit box.  So I put two knives in and took three out.  LOL! The dagger is marked on the blade, John Newton & Co. Sheffield on one side and a small frog character on the other.

  • Jan Carter

Clint thanks for making into the bank for us.  That is way cool.  Great little garter set up.  That lady is as safe as she can be for her day and time

  • stephen tungate

that is a beautiful set clint wow very cool...

  • Clint Thompson

Thanks Stephen.  I look for this type of knife all the time.  You can find them on ebay but my experience lately is you will regret buying from that place.  New knives is one thing but a used 1889 dagger is another.

  • Jan Carter

I agree Clint.  Unless you have experience with the seller, the older items are a tough thing to buy on ebay.  Better to be hands on with it

  • Jan Carter

Well this is a two parter...

Is anyone buying their lady a knife for christmas?

Are any of the ladies looking for a knife to be in thier stocking?

  • Jan Carter

I beleive I am getting a knife for christmas but I still have not decided what to get Donnie

  • Clint Thompson

Times running out Girl!  If you get tight on the time I have one very...very nice auto left.

  • Jan Carter

Thanks Clint, I appreciate the help.  I think I decided.  He has the machine to mark the knives he makes but doesn't have the stencils.  Today I ordered the stencils and a test run GEC (Ithink)

    Robert Burris

No, some young ladies are buying me some knives though. Does that count.

  • Jan Carter

That certainly does count and I am dying to see your newest

Well, Santa is bringing me a small custom fixed blade by our friend James. The girls have decided on some Moose, so we'll have to wait till Chirstmas to see those. I am dying to see them too. I hope you get a great little knife for the holidays also, I know you've been a good girl...lol

  • Jan Carter

Hey, your getting a Moose and I think a Beavertail is headed my way.  We could start our own zoo Robert

I like the little custom peice idea BTW

  • Jan Carter

    Jan...

LOL!  I love this video.  I took some notes on what this very interesting young lady had to say.  What a jewel!  Thanks!

  • Jan Carter

I thought so also Clint.  Thanks

  • Clint Thompson

I check on Youtube and found out this video is two years old.  I wonder if she ever gained full ownership of the Spyderdo.  LOL!  By the way she won the video contest where she faked the cut in her hand and drew the Sypderco knife.

  • Jan Carter

That is funny Clint.  Maybe she is on her way to gaining full ownership ROFL (one knife at a time)

  • Jan Carter

I read this today and thought,   WOW, these guys really knew hoe to make a lady happy

Long before there were roses, chocolates, and fine restaurants on the Kenai Peninsula for men to please their wives, it was the crafting of a good Ulu, so that she could get her work done, that kept a wife content. Indeed the word Ulu means "Woman's Knife."

  • Clint Thompson

    The good old days.

  • Jan Carter

    LOL Clint,

seems like just last week at my house

  • Jan Carter

This is the newest Donnie made for me

  • Jan Carter

    Robert,

    Share with us please?

  • Jan Carter

The pink IS actually my EDC of choice.  Feels good in the hand, holds a good sharp edge and has a blade for everything I need

  • Clint Thompson

    Jan....

Good job.  The Brits kept good records.  My lady dagger was made by John Newton around 1890 in Sheffield England then shipped to the Yukon to be sold to those who needed it.

  • Jan Carter

so along with the knives there are some very talented lady leathersmiths out there to build those covers for your favorites...Heres one now

  • Jan Carter

    So guys,

I have talked about the ladies and Valentines day.  Tell me what you would like to get from Cupid!!!

  • Clint Thompson

    Jan...

By the way...I saw a short on a lady knife maker in the same article or short blip about the KI partnered knife show.  I need to check her web site out and see her work.

  • Clint Thompson

    Jan....

From cupid I would like to get a hug, a kiss and not pink Case pocket knife.

  • Clint Thompson

Ok this young ladies name is Haley DesRosiers.  Here is her web site.  http://www.alaskablades.com/   Cool site.

  • Jan Carter

    Clint,

Not even a pink Camo one?

  • Clint Thompson

Not even a pink camo one.

  • Jan Carter

Thanks for the link on Haley.  Will be adding her to the list this week

  • Jan Carter

    Hey Clint,

You hear anything about when the tactical group from Case will be avail?

  • Clint Thompson

    Jan...

Adam and Haley's web site is very well done.  Their wedding pictures are so cute.  I can see they have some real talent.  For you sword overs, Adam's long blades are something to look at.

  • Jan Carter

    Clint,

I love how on The link to Haley's knives they talk about the way they live there.  Sounds like fun to me

We leave the blade shop in the summer to go commercial fishing. After a few months of playing 'Deadliest Catch' we're ready to get back to our nice warm shop and get out of the saltwater for awhile. It requires a boat or a plane to reach our cabin, so visitors are few but distractions are many... There are no roads to where we live, so fuel has to be bought in town, hauled 8 hrs. in the boat and then tussled up the 2 mile trail to the shop in barrels. There is fly-fishing to be done and deer hunting that must not be neglected. There's no community water within reach so we catch ours from the sky or haul it from our crick.  Since we live off-grid we provide our own power with both gas and diesel generators. At this point we do laundry by hand in an old fashioned wringer washer and have no indoor bathroom or refrigerator...Life Is Good!

  • Clint Thompson

    Jan....

I sent them a message via their website complementing their site, craft and the wedding pictures.  I told them they were very blessed.  If I ever get up that way I will stop in too see them when their not out doing the deadly catch thing.

I have not received a reply but if they don't have an indoor toilet I doubt they have Internet.  My guess is there is an Internet Cafe in town.

I contacted Fred at Case knives and put the question to him.  No call back yet.

  • Sue OldsWidow

    INPUT INPUT...

I ran across this site ....there is a lot of INFO....Shepherd hills library...

    http://www.casexx.com/Reference.asp

  • Jan Carter

WOW, Sue you are correct a lot of really good info in there.  Thanks for sharing it with us

  • Clint Thompson

    Jan....

Fred at Case said this April they will release around 28 models of the "modern knives".  I thought it was funny for him to say the Tactical knives were modern.  I never considered Case to produce old knives.  Sure the knife patterns are vintage but eternally young.  I will see if I can get some pics to put in this discussion.

  • Sue OldsWidow

I found this pic of antique Case axe/knife combo....the eternally young at over 60. years looks real nice....giggles....Rare Vintage Case Tested XX "Knife-Ax". Wood handles. Nickel silver bolsters, handle pins and pommel. Upswept skinner blade with grooves cut in thumb notch on spine. This Knife-Axe combo was first patented in 1935 and the tang stamp on it was only used until 1940. The blade was replaced in the 60's. Very unique knife blade can be removed and hatchet fits in it's place. Very well built

  • Jan Carter

Thanks for he info Clint, looking forward to the pics

    Sue,

    Is that the "changer" knife?

  • Sue OldsWidow

Yes it is Jan...one handle for axe and knife

  • Clint Thompson

    Jan...

Here is the link to check out the new Tactical Case knives: tecx.com  The line of Case tactical folders is "Tecx".  I was talking to Fred of Case Knives this morning.  He explained to me Case would have to build a new factory to build the quantity of Tecx knives they expect to sell.  To jump into a new market, for them, and build an entire factory hoping this line will be able to stand on its own is a risk they don't want to take.  I don't fault them on this.  Fred said there were no USA companies who make knives for other companies who can keep up with the numbers Case would want.  So like so many others, Case farmed this line out to a Chinese company.  Buck is another company who has gone to China.  I heard Buck Knives were trying to come back to the USA with part of their line.

I told Fred the risk of sending this line to China is they will make knock offs as they do of Buck, CRKT and others.  He agreed with my assessment.  Anyway, Fred is mailing me about half dozen of these Tactical knives and one traditional Case knife which is a single blade lock back, bone handle with a pocket clip for an article.  The single blade traditional is a #30024 (6154LC CV) Amber Bone CV Trapper Lock Clip.  This Trapper fits the bill as a knife LEO can carry.  When I get these knives in I will attach some pics and what I think.  I will then send them off to a Chief of Police who is a camera bug to take some pics and hand them out to our American Heroes here at home (police and fire).

The Tecx line will sell from about $20 to $45 which is much like the S&W line.
