Schrade Collectors

Many people collected Schrade knives over the years. Almost everyone had to have a Schrade. Much has changed, but they still make Schrade Knives and now they are coming out with new steels and new handle materials.

So old fan or new collector, Lets talk about Schrade!

Thanks Tom, When I bought the 808 , I did not realize how small it actually was. I found it on Ebay.

  • Waggoner, Alan

    Ricky,

nice collection, I can especially identify with the 787. I have an old one that I bought new in the 60's. It skinned many a coon, fox, and ringtail; quite afew bobcats and coyotes-but thecoyotes were too tight skinned for what little $ the fur would bring! Also possums were only worth 25cents and there was no shortage of coons, so we often took the cheap possums  in on the cob and let the hide buyer skin 'em!

  • Ricky L McConnell

Cool, it is neat to hear a story about how these knives have been used. It still looks like it has a lot of years left on it.

  • Waggoner, Alan

    I agree!

We use to sell the possums whole to, not worth skinning.

That's a fine looing Muskrat, Ricky.

  • Waggoner, Alan

I would like to have gotten hold of this one before it was cleaned. It's still a rare old dogleg even if it has the shine going on though!

  • Ken Spielvogel

    Beautiful Knife Alan

  • Ricky L McConnell

Nice, I like the long nail pull on the main blade

  • Tom Chase

    Steve,

You are just going to throw a statement like that out there and leave us hanging??????
Wow...now I am not going to get any sleep...LOL
I hope it's that they are going to start producing in the USA....
  • Tom Chase

Just busting on you! I can't wait to hear what they have to say myself. I am not a fan of their knives, although I have purchased some of the Schrades they had produced in the USA by some other US manufactureres
  • Ricky L McConnell

I am looking to buy a Schrade LB7. Can anyone tell me what too much would be on the cost of these ? I recently lost one on Ebay at the 42.00 mark, with 5.00 shipping.

  • Brad T.

    Ricky,

The country of manufacture, condition and extras(ie. sheath, box etc.) will drive up the price. If you are looking for a collectible, expect bidding to go as high as $100 for a complete unused sample.

But if you're looking for a USA made user in good condition they can still go as high as $60 w/ sheath. I picked one up one on eBay last year w/o a sheath for $30 shipped.  Then got a new Schrade sheath for $12 shipped. Hell of a knife, more heft to it than the 110. I actually like it better than the 110 because the weight.

  • Brad T.

The link below is for a Excellent Used condition serialized 3 Pin LB7 w/ sheath with a buy it now Price of $50 w/ free shipping.

  • Pat Kennedy

Just my opinion, but either of those would be nice to have at the "Buy It Now" price if you're looking for a nice EDC, or even to clean up for display. Blades are full on both, the brass could use a little touching up on both and the serialized one has some pitting on the bolster (probably stored in the leather sheath for a long time), but if the serial number is worth the extra money to the buyer then go for it. If not, $35 is a very fair price for a USA made Schrade lockback.

  • Ricky L McConnell

Thanks for the help everyone. This is what makes this site great. Brad , I bought the 34.99 one, thanks for the link. I am curious about your comparison to the Buck 110 which I think is a heavy built lockblade. I cannot wait to compare the two. Thanks again everybody!

  • Brad T.

Glad I could help Ricky. You will be able to tell the weight once you have them both in your hands.

  • Ricky L McConnell

Brad, how do you store your lockblades ?  The Buck 110 and I am sure the LB7 are too big for a normal knife roll. I would not think that you keep them in their shealths.

I would like to find a list of all the LB series knives so I can tell what I need to complete this series in my collection. Does anyone have information on these  knives ?

  • Tom Chase

    LB1
    LB2
    LB3
    LB4
    LB5
    lB7
    LB8
    LB9

LB4 is by far the rarest since not many were made! If you can find one, expect to pay dearly for it. I have .all of these except the LB9 which is basically the LB8 with a gut hook.

I hope this helps and good luck on your hunt to complete the LB series.

Oops, I almost forgot, there is also an LB7DP. It's an LB7 with a Drop Point blade with the blade etched 440 Stainless.

    Ricky,

Sorry for the long awaited response.

I do keep them in the knife roll that is my page's wallpaper. Of course the knife roll is 16" wide x 72" long. It is very heavy.

  • Ricky L McConnell

    Thanks for the list Tom.

Yeah Brad,  I do remember that roll now , I had forgotten about it.

  • Ricky L McConnell

Anyone bought a Taylor made Schrade LB7 ? I am thinking about picking one up at SMKW to see the difference from the USA one I have.

  • Jan Carter

DEAL IN PROGRESS!!!  Thanks Howard for letting us know

Hand-Tools.com is selling a 55 Anniv. Schrade 3-knife set, for the Schrade folks here for $23.99

I am trying to put together a knife collectors stocking stuffer wish list to share out to FB and pintrest and twitter.  Sure would be nice if our knife collectors got what they want in thier stocking LOL

Is anyone seeing anything Schrade that would make good stocking stuffers?

  • Ricky L McConnell

Tractor Supply has a 2014 Schrade gift set in yellow handles or brown , in a gift tin. It is a set of three knives for $20.

  • Ms Data

I can't call myself a Schrade collector because I own exactly one.  I recently purchased one of the new Schrade SCHF 37's and wow this thing is a beauty especially for the price.  It did not come perfect, the blade sharpened a little off-center, but that could be fixed.  Great knife for the price and compares nicely to my Ka-Bar Becker BK-7.

  • Britney

Hi all, I'm a newbie on the boards, so please be kind! My uncle recently passed away, and my aunt wants to rid herself of my uncle's collection of knives. I plan on keeping a few, primarily because I know my uncle used them and loved them, but the rest I'll probably put on ebay.

So I have questions about a Schrade USA Uncle Henry LB8 knife.  And I'll do my best to successfully post photos!

It has a serial number, but I can't seem to find online what this serial number identifies. Also, the blade itself lacks the phrase "Uncle Henry" inscription. Is this normal? Any guidance is appreciated!

  • Jan Carter

    Britney,

Uncle Henry is a part of Schrade, or was when this was made.  The LB stands for LockBack  click here to see an example with some explaination
