    Tom,

I love it also.  It is a great way for the customers to see who does what

  • Jan Carter

    Happy Labor Day!!

    Happy Labor Day!!!

May all be safe in their endeavors. : )

  • Tom Peterson

    Jan,

Did you see that GEC has the #12 single blade beaver tails up on their new release page? That beaver skin has got to be getting crowded!

  • johnny twoshoes

I saw one of those for sale already, good price for an excellent pattern. I could live with another Tpick, and I like those Beaver shields a lot.

I'll have to tell my brother about this. : )

  • Jan Carter

    WOOHOO!!!!

i KNOW WHAT MY NEXT KNIFE IS

  • Luca Vignelli

You know, I have to say that I love single bladed knives better than multiple bladed knives. For me it's all about the main blade and in my opinion the second and third or even fourth blades just ruin the hand feel when your main blade is open. Knife and handle, what could be simpler and more comfortable and beautiful than that? My wish is that GEC would produce all of their main blade shapes and handles in single blade versions as well, like they do with the #23 and #73. How would you like a single blade #36 Sunfish or #46 Whaler? I know I would love that personally, simple, useful, comfortable, and essential, let alone slim. Anybody else out there agree?

I agree with you, Luca, a single blade knife seems to be a better working knife. If it's gonna have multiple blades then I lean toward a Moose or Trapper. The benefit of the two blades for me is I can use one for most cutlery needs during the day and save the other for use in preparing a meal.

I have a question for y'all. How many different type sheilds does GEC have? What are they and how many?
  • Tom Peterson

    Jan,

GEC just posted a #12 Powderhorn with the Beavertail shield on it. You might have to change your statement about knowing what your next knife will be to what your next two knives are going to be! How come we never hear from Donnie on this forum. Or is he just the eye candy in all the GEC Rendezvous pictures & the strong silent type! Just giving you all grief. Have a good weekend! Is our camping trip over?

  • johnny twoshoes

I've been gone a lot guys, working on the farm market, or helping a buddy. I'm missing you guys, but I'm getting a ton of work done. I'm hoping that I'll get the squirrel season off, but who knows. Keep this place hopping guys, it's great to hear from you all.
  • johnny twoshoes

  • Billy Oneale

That's a good looking knife, Johnny.
  • Jan Carter

Just ordered it, will put on pics when it comes in.

    Johnny,

I have been gone a few days also..It's always good to see you when you can get on here

  • Jan Carter

    Robert,

I am working on the list of shields for you

  • In Memoriam

    Robert Burris

Yes Miss Jan,those that are serious about collecting need to know about this. That kind of info is the kind of things that make collecting interesting.
  • Tom Peterson

    Jan,

Have you checked out GEC's website - under the Information tab, at the bottom - What's Happening Today? I had never seen that before, maybe I am more than a little slow on the uptake (forgive me folks if that is the case). Shows your favorite shield style in production. Isn't that special! Just wanted to give you a heads up on this if you hadn't seen it. If you have I will go back to my Geritol with ginkgo biloba! I was pretty excited about this but I haven't been to the Rendezvous like some lucky folks!

  • Jan Carter

I love the herd of beavers!!!!  Thanks Tom, I had not seen that

  • In Memoriam

    Robert Burris

Yes, the beavers are neat but when are we gonna see the hard working employees?
  • Jan Carter

Thats where I have been looking for the what happening also Robert
  • Jan Carter

I know Robert is aware but I dont know if all of you know.  On the Bladesmith Babes blog here I listed some of the wonderful women at GEC and a little about what they do at the factory.  So until we begin to see more of the great people at GEC you may want to check that out
  • Jan Carter

Great job finding them I hope you didn't go to alot of trouble. True collectors are going to need to know this stuff. We need a Moose sheild...lol
  • Jan Carter

    Robert,

I agree but maybe just a moose head shield.  Have ya'll checked out the new pics on whats happening?

  • In Memoriam

    Robert Burris

Yes, the workers that are on the job, just great! I'm sure all GEC admirers will love those pictures. Tell them not to worry about a Moose nut, just keep up their great work.

I have decided to change all of my user folders to GEC. It hasn't been as easy as I thought it was gonna be, with that said, I'll list the knives that are getting changed over to GEC and what I  hope to use in the future. This should be fun, I'll have to get my little helper to work with the pictures. Back latter.
  • johnny twoshoes

Best of luck Robert, I have a hard time sticking to anything when it comes to EDC. I think there is always a "better", I may have already found the right "one", but I don't know. GEC has some great knives out there, so I'm sure you'll be happy with your switch.
  • biglmbass

    Jan,

What do you mean by "double take" shield?  I'm drawing a blank.  Got pics?  THX.

  • In Memoriam

    Robert Burris

Johnny, I use four different folders for my EDC knife. One I use mostly in summer, another while small game hunting, another while fishing...get the idea. I have three out of the four EDC replaced by GEC's the last hold out is waiting on GEC to make it. I speak of the long awaited large lockback. I can only hope that after my long wait that it comes with a true clip point and not a drop point with a clip out the top. I'll try take a picture of the three EDC's and post them on here.
  • Tom Peterson

Did everyone see that GEC has a rough #57  up on their web site? Looks like it will be a fun one!

  • In Memoriam

    Robert Burris

Yea, I'll bet the whittilers will go crazy over that one.
  • Rusty R Halsey

It does look very interesting.  Does anyone know, or care to guess, how long it is?
  • Jan Carter

  • Jan Carter

The next release after the #57 is going to be a #85 Teardrop.  At this point all I can share is that it's going to be available as a 2 blade...... with a spear/pen or spear/punch blade combination.  I think we'll get a few more details on the #85 shortly.

  • Jan Carter

  • Jan Carter

I am soooo excited about the Geppetto
  • Tom Peterson

    Jan,

I think that the new 85 will resemble the Blade Forum club knife. That knife will have a screwdriver/bottleopener in addition to a spear blade. GEC's versions will likely not have the same secondary blade as you have noted.

  • In Memoriam

    Robert Burris

Yep, us woodsman have to take a back seat to them whittlers again. Well enjoy it Geppetto......
  • johnny twoshoes

Robert, I can't wait to see pics. I love a good well used GEC pic. : )
  • Billy Oneale

That Geppetto looks like a cool release. I may have to get one.
  • Jan Carter

    Billy,

I'm waiting on the primitve bone...How about you?

  • Billy Oneale

    I want one, Jan.

  • In Memoriam

    Robert Burris

Miss Jan, if you had to pick one, which would it be? Stag or primitve bone.
  • Jan Carter

Hard to say Robert but most likely the primitive bone.  Stag are more likely to continue for a while but primitve bone has an exhaustable supply.  I love stag though
  • Jan Carter

Is anyone bidding on the toenail?
  • Luca Vignelli

I wish I could but I can't. I need new shoes and so does my daughter.
