Queen Cutlery & Friends

Knives have been made at the factory of Queen Cutlery Company of Titusville Pennsylvania for over 100 years. It is arguably the oldest and last American Cutlery that truly continues to produce knives in the same way as they were produced there when the factory opened in 1902. The factory’s first tenant was the Schatt & Morgan Cutlery Company: Queen Cutlery Company displaced Schatt & Morgan there in 1933. Queen City Cutlery Company first began to produce knives in 1918 around the end of the First World War, incorporated in 1922, and shortened their name to “Queen Cutlery Company” in January of 1946.  Purchased by Daniels Family Cutlery Corporation on September 18, 2012

Jan - I will be there. That's where we go to the Ohio Gun Collectors Show, so I wouldn't miss it that close to home.

  • Jan Carter

Ken, That is exciting!!  I know it is a bit down the road but I happy to know I can meet more of our friends from iKC!

  • Jan Carter

OK guys!  I always tell you who the pictures are, can you tell me who these two are working in the shop?

  • Ron Cooper

    Ken and Courtney! Duh.

    Ken and Courtney?

  • Howard P Reynolds

Hey, Jan.  Remind us once in a while about Queen Fest.  October 2014 is too far for me to remember.

  • Jan Carter

Howard I certainly will.  I want to meet as many members as possible there.

Y'all are right, That is Ken and Courtney.  It is my understanding they are working on the newest release for Franks Classics.  I do not know if you have seen the shield Franks is using but I do love it!

  • Tobias Gibson

That looks remarkably like the Old Man of the Sea, Ernest Hemingway

  • Jan Carter

  • Jan Carter

Franks is a very cool shield.  I am wondering what Queen Pattern he is attaching it too?

  • Jan Carter

Any Queens come your way for Christmas?

  • In Memoriam

    Robert Burris

No, I only got one vintage knife and a small multi-tool, in the way of knives this Christmas but my birthday is in April.....lol

  • Pat Kennedy

Here's a trio of Schatt and Morgans that just arrived from Derek Cooper! I committed to buying them before we were really into the Christmas shopping mode, so I told my wife these were her gift to me this year.

I think it's best to do the shopping myself for the collection, because telling people you collect pocket knives with the expectation that they might get you something you actually want is a lot like telling someone you collect coins and having them save up their pocket change to give you. Nice thought, but you'll usually miss the mark if you're not sure of what a nice addition to the collection would be.

  • Ken Spielvogel

    What a great trio Pat

  • Jan Carter

    Pat,

You did very well!!!!  You are so right about shopping for a collector and when you try to search out what would be right for them...you end up hooked on knives yourself

    Those are some beauties Pat!

  • Max McGruder

    Pat fine lookin' Trio!

  • Pat Kennedy

And, when the IKC 2013 collector knife arrives, I will have collected one each of a 1,2,3 and 4-blade Queen variant for this year - a Queen Cutlery Grand Slam for 2013!

  • Pat Kennedy

By the way, IKC Member Derek Cooper still had several of these knives and others when last we communicated. He's listing several online, but if you favor a particular pattern or style, contact him to arrange a deal. Knives are new in box, believed to be manufactured circa 2000 and are duplicates in his collection.

  • Jan Carter

I have bought from Derek also, easy and wonderful transaction.  The result was one sweet knife at a reasonable price

  • Derek Cooper

    :-)

I have a lot left. Please message me. I am still learning how to use this forum. My email is dbcooper70@verizon.net

    Best,

    Derek

  • Ron Cooper

    Derek,

Aren't you worried that the FBI might come looking for you with an email address of D.B. Cooper? lol

Being an ex-paratrooper with the last name of Cooper had me a little nervous back in the 70's when the real D.B. Cooper pulled the original skyjacking.

I cracked up just now when I saw your email addy. lol

p.s., Dude! What did you do with the money? I promise. I won't tell a soul.

For anyone too young to know about D.B. Cooper, here's a link that should enlighten you: D.B. Cooper

  • Pat Kennedy

Back when that happened here in the Northwest, I was about 8 years old and had a fake oversized $20 bill from the County Fair with the artist's rendering of DB Cooper's picture on it.

Let's just say that the material Derek used for packing the knives he shipped was... unique... Just kidding, it was bubble wrap.

  • Jan Carter

LOL Pat and Ron!  I never put that together when I looked at his email address

  • Howard P Reynolds

Thanks, Jan.  I sent a note to TSA asking what steel is in these whittlers.  Just now, so haven't heard back.

  • Jon Salmon

Thanks Jan - I'm praying for the "File & Wire" ATS-34 steel in this knife - but I'm not holding my breath !!
