Queen Cutlery & Friends

Knives have been made at the factory of Queen Cutlery Company of Titusville Pennsylvania for over 100 years. It is arguably the oldest and last American Cutlery that truly continues to produce knives in the same way as they were produced there when the factory opened in 1902. The factory’s first tenant was the Schatt & Morgan Cutlery Company: Queen Cutlery Company displaced Schatt & Morgan there in 1933. Queen City Cutlery Company first began to produce knives in 1918 around the end of the First World War, incorporated in 1922, and shortened their name to “Queen Cutlery Company” in January of 1946.  Purchased by Daniels Family Cutlery Corporation on September 18, 2012

Thanks, Jan.  I sent a note to TSA asking what steel is in these whittlers.  Just now, so haven't heard back.

  • Jon Salmon

Thanks Jan - I'm praying for the "File & Wire" ATS-34 steel in this knife - but I'm not holding my breath !!

I started taking pics of the new #21 whittler that came yesterday.  not surprising, I take pics of just about everything for you all.  I love to share them.

Check out the tangs on this sweet little whittler!  Any help in identifying them?

I love this knife.  There is not one thing about it that doesn't scream COLLECT ME.  With a small run of only 100 in each of the two handle materials, it will become a knife in my pocket for shows

This was on FB today.  Have someone local to you that you think should carry these?

We love sharing as much as we can here at Queen, but now its your chance to share. We're wondering if you have any Hunting, Bait and Tackle, and/or Local Hardware store in your areas that are not currently selling Queen Knives. We would love to expand our dealers to make it easier for you to get a Queen Knife. Leave the name of the store with contact information or a Link. Thank you for your help and continued support of us here at Queen Cutlery.

Here at Queen one of the very few things we out source is our Heat Treating. This is what our blades and springs look like before they are shipped out to be heat treated. The PH on our PH-D2 blades actually stands for the company's name we heat treat through, Peters Heat Treat

  • Howard P Reynolds

Peters Heat Treat is in Meadville, PA - north of Pittsburgh, so not only are the Queen knives made in PA, but the heat treat is done in PA.

  • Carl Bradshaw

Yep, right here in my backyard.  I used to work at a tool shop in Meadville when I was in High School, and we used PHT for all the tool steel treating.

Queen Dan Burke Winterbottom Mini Trapper (bought from Kevin Pipe collection)

Ms. Courtney was having some fun with the Kiddo project last weekend

  • Rome D. Rushing

Ken that is one good looking #9 that you have.

    It makes me jealous.

  • Ken Spielvogel

    Thanks Rome

  • Steve Scheuerman (Manx)

Okay...seems I may have a budding knife enthusiast in the house. I'd love to find some info on kid related knife projects. I think it would be very cool to start her a collection of her own. And what are the chances of finding older kids knives...as in kids knives from previous years? Would appreciate any info I can get. Thanks folks!

  • Jack Suesz

I have one "bird knife " my grand kids love they also like all of the novelty and advertising knives, trick knives ring turners etc. Boy Scout Girl Scout and Brownie are all possibilities. The old sliding knives are reasonable and fun to collect. When my grand kids have their sixth birthday they get a pocket knife if their parents say they are ready and I gave one to my last granddaughter to turn 6. Hope this helps.

From Design to your Door ~ The Queens' Gathering

Here are photos from this weeks guest Pat Vroman, Quality Control

When we are copying a knife from a custom maker I tear apart the knife starting by tracing outline of parts by hand on to paper and transferring them onto steel and cut them out with a band scroll saw leaving parts a little heavy to get down to exact size needed and finish them to desired size. We will then use these hard copy parts to send out to get lasered out at Tonnard MFG. Corp out of Corry, PA

This is the die set with box type box fixture we use for quick and easy insertion for our new Tommy blocks to be dropped in

We use a stationary router table with fixtures we make in house to accommodate each style here are some Fossilized Spalted Maple Burl handles before and after routing

These are our new Bolster blocks after they were knocked in. Still need cleaned and sent to Peters Heat Treat to be Annealed and heat treated to 58- 60 for RC

This small forge is how we heat our Bolster Die blocks up before dropping in
