Whittlers, especially CASE "Seahorse",
and the Great Eastern "Gippetto" Whittlers.
I also like other utilitarian frames and whatever appeals to me at the time.

I just relized I did not send you a thanks you for the welcome. I sent it back to myslef. Us Smiths have to stick togeather. It is crazy but I am a III also but I droped it afyer my father pasted. If I can be of any help to you please just ask.
I have just brought up my web site @ www.smittysdesigns.com please take a look and let know what you think about it because it is The first time I have tried to set one up.
Hey J.J snapped a picture of the two latest knives that I recevied recentlly.
A little slow on the picture side here, adding more soon. Have a great sunday!
You'd probably have to lose the nail nick to get a wharncliffe out of it .. but, there's 3.125" of cutting edge to wk w/ on a #8. I bet one could retain a 2.5" wharncliffe out of that.
ohhhh ya and to tell you the truth the sheath is so intricate and well made i think it might be worth more than the knife itself!! haha...i'll post a pic so you can check it out
That's funny! LOL. I do that too when my 80 year old Dad goes flying around Gadsden. He always flys over my house so I stand out back and wave at him. He dips his wings when he see's me.
I was in Hilton Head and boated over to Daufuskie Island. Working on a deal there.
J.J. You seen these before ?? Are they really as useful as the individual tools .. or .. just somebody's dream ??
Carry a complete carving kit in your pocket! The blades of this unique carving tool fold into their handle just like a pocket knife's blades. Professional carvers will love the high quality edge-holding features of Flexcut's resilient spring steel blades.
• The Carvin' Jack features six tools: 3/4" #7 sweep knife blade; 3/8" #6 scorp; 3/8" #11 gouge; 3/8" #1 straight chisel; 1-3/8" detail carving knife; 1/4" 70º V scorp.
• All tools securely lock in both opened and closed positions.
• Conveniently sized at only 4-1/4" long, 15/16" tall, and 5/8" thick when closed, about the same size as a large pocket knife.
All is well, JJ. It's a hobby- not a job. You take care of yourself, so you don't get any bad news (I'm assuming you really didn't), if you did please PM me if you want to share it.
We're in our busy time on my end and it is hard keeping up. So, let's just have fun as we can, OK?
when i was younger people called me little randy, but now anyone who knows both me and my dad its Jr. My dad also told me something funny about you earlier. he said he asked you how you carve those pits and you said you cut everything away that doesnt look like a monkey. funny stuff!!!
Have you experimented w/ the Side & Header image settings ??
Located @ .... My page \ Appearance \ All Options \ Side & Header Image ….
?? on the border pic .. all I can manage is the repetition of a single pic ..
Jeff @ CJS has managed to get a series of individual pics down the left side of his iKC pg .. and .. I’ve a quest into him as to how he managed this .. he possibly pasted them together & then imported them as a single pic ..
I’ve seen your pixel manipulation !! Thought I’d run this by you !?!? Have you played w/ the border settings much ?
That FATBOY S-TYPE VERSIPACK is kinda sweet .. ya just might want to consider a swap w/ the little lady !!
I did a GPC-1000 kit from Knifekits & was quite satisfied .. although, I took on a bit much for my first kit shot w/ the "S" curve between the bolster & the scale. I didn't order the DDR2 the first time around because of the "not tapped" issue. Have since discovered .. not tapped .. for the pocket clip. Sooo .. it's back in the running.
Also .. noted that retail pricing on Case's Slimlock has dipped to the $130 range. One sweet looking knife .. but, still a little pricey for me.
I used the same pic edit program you have for awhile. It's good software. I later "upgraded" to FastStone Image Viewer 4.0. It's also a shareware program availabe from CNET. "i think" it has a few exta features & pretty user friendly too.
I know the "trial & error" approach .. would even say I'm kinda good at it .. the L & R side borders need to be 158 pixels WIDE * 3000 pixels TALL. The Miller Bros ink eraser pic I used was trimmed to 158 pixels wide * 1520 pixels tall .. I ended up w/ 2 copies on ea side as I scroll down my pg.
No, you didn't misread any thing @ the DDR2. Confusing verbiage in their catalog too. I had to email the gentleman @ knifekits.com to get clarification. I just really shouldn't have waited till I was assembling the GPC-1000 to do that. Ya know .. I chastise my children for being that foolish ....
I was pleased w/ the quality of the kit. KnifeKits beats a guy up on accessories though. I ordered the bronze washers/fancy 3mm tulip thumb stud/ xtra fastener kit & a block of desert ironwood. Doubled the price.
Jeff got back to me .. indeed, he had spliced together (stacked) a bunch of little pics & then saved that as a single file .. then, imported just that one file for his border on the left side.
Hey JJ .. for what it’s worth .. I think the version of your borders where the Uncle Whiskers logo didn’t touch the body of the page looked cleaner .. I think that was the one where you found the white level a little overwhelming .. can you add like a sepia tone to that one ?? Hey .. just my opinion !!
It took a bit of trial & error for me .. identifying the 158 pixel width requirement .. then, finding anything that could be trimmed down that narrow & still remain identifiable ..
Say .. what kind of steel wks best for you .. whittling. Of the flavors you own .. which do you prefer ?? I noticed that carving tool folder listed a spring steel w/ a hardness of 60/61 Rc. That’s pretty freaking hard !!
JJ .. InfranView has made some improvements since I last used their pic editor .. don't bother w/ the FastStone .. it's really no better than this latest ver of InfranView .. little subtleties .. I like Fastone's rotation features better .. but, no longer worth the hassle of downloading & learning a new program ..
Heck ya.....I deleted her and then came back to still see her there...so deleted her again. She was prospecting our members. First prostitute at iKC :)
Legistlative Research .. her dept authors courtesy resolutions .. anything from someone leaving a few $mil$ for a community library in MO .. to .. Joe's Car Wash celebrating their 2 yr 4 mo. anniv ..
Note: Joe is senator XX's brother-in-law .. but, we won't mention that ..
JJ .. posted a pic of a whittler in my Wade & Butcher pic album .. it's a repro I bought from Jim Parker when he was still w/ us .. might be Queen manuf .. "!! not sure on that though !!" .. a little on the lg side for me .. a nice whittler though ..
Hey JJ. Thanks for helping with the celebration. It's a big day! I've have to make my speech late tonight so keep the party going. headed to Atlanta for some meetings..work, work, work :)

Wondered if you were aware of this. A great application for your whittlin’ talents !!

My current edc is a Queen 06L, amber stag bone, D2 steel. I've had it ~ 6 mo now & am very happy w/ it. 'twas $46 delivered to my door. http://www.crisnercutlery.com/agedhoneyamberstagbone.htm
Yeah .. the flexcut was ~ $ 125 + shipping online. A bit on the pricey side.
.. one might be RH .. but .. prefer to carve LH .. or, vice versa .. interesting .. I didn't know that

Then .. I found the same thing @ K&G w/ titanium liners ..

.. Oh boy Oh boy !!
What's your opinion .. stainless vs. titanium liners
