About Me
My Husband Donnie and I live in Hiawassee GA. I was Blessed to have found iKC and became the owner in October of 2012. I believe all knife collectors are created equal, no matter what type they collect. iKC brings a different direction to knife collecting in my opinion, you may not personally like something or have an issue with a particular company. But respect is a substantial aspect of what we are about. I have a strong faith and believe everyone is entitled to theirs.
Interests
History, fishing, Diving, knife collecting and about a billion other things LOL. My main interest these days is iKC and bringing the future generations into knife collecting.
Other Hobbies
there are other hobbies? OK, I found one! Watching my husband learn to build knives

Jan, glad you're in on the custom GEC Northfield "Grand Piano" #36 Sunfish! Now we are 5 so far, only 45 more to go! Spread the word to your friends so we can make it happen sooner. I posted this announcement up in the GEC group, the ETCC group, and as a general news announcement. The responses are trickling in! Question, do you know of any way to put this post up so that it reaches everybody, kind of like an all points bulletin? That way we could make this whole project move a little faster, maybe? I'm itching to hold that dream in my hands! Best to you and I'll keep everybody posted.

    Hi Jan,

I just posted the price quotes from GEC for the custom black buffalo horn #36 Sunfish. I just need you to reconfirm that you still want one, or more, now that we have a firm price quote.

You can check out all the latest info I posted on the GEC Group page and let me know there.

    Thanks!

    Jan,

Just saw the post you put up on the TSA blog. Thanks for doing that, I think that should help us reach the 50 or 100 mark!

    Keep in touch.

Yes Mam, They are 16, and 19 and doing great. I have one in college and one high school. I have them in enough projects now. They are doing very good for an old pawpaw, showing them the way. The more I can show them about all things in life the better. I love Ya'll, and this is another way to keep their minds on the real things in life. Thanks again Miss Jan.

  • Chris Stookey

    Hey Jan!

Glad that you enjoyed my photos. Actually, I don't use a box at all and, oddly enough, I use limited light. On one hand, some of the detail is lost...and on the other hand, it gives the shot a little atmosphere. Well...and then there's my ever present Rottweiller in the background.

I'm going to start collecting GEC's with the Primitive Bone handles. For some reason, those are kind of ringing my bell right now.

Look forward to seeing pictures from your collection!

Be well and may we all remember the military!

    Chris

    Jan,

Sorry I will not be at Blade Show, have a motor cycle trip planed for Canada.

    Hopefully next year?

All my knives are made from scratch, I do not use a pattern.

Not too many? If any other makers do this? Yep 747 pocket knives made from scratch?

    I must be crazy Uh?

Hope you have a great time at the Show.

Grand kids are the best - I have a little grand daughter, from my daughter Kelly.

Her name is Layla she will be three this year.

    Take care.... Todd

She was married twice also and has a grandson. We may get married someday? But for now, we are just enjoying life.

Jan, I told Chris my problem also. When I recieve a message in the inbox and try to reply , It does nothing. I have to actually go to the persons home page to reply or leave a message in the comment box. If I want to leave a message ,I have to do the same thing. I also have had trouble adding a photo on the quick add. It does nothing also.
  • Billy Oneale

Not that I have noticed. I will look next time I try it.

Jan, There is something wrong with the way my page is working. I was going to try and update it and I don't know what I did, but the color scheme changed. I try clicling on the areas to pick the colors and no color board shows up to customize. All I did to begin with was try to add a picture to my header. I didn't even change anything. any help would be appreciated. I still cannot send messages or reply from my inbox either. It acts the same on a different computer I use sometimes.

Jan- sorry for the delay in my response to your desire to help with donations- I'm sorry, I don't know a group, per se. My suggestion if you want is the Red Cross. Tuscaloosa one might be a good one. Thanks for the kind thoughts.

Miss Jan, I have finally found a nice little tree to make your staff. When it's finally finished you will like it. I have a little surprise I'm adding to it. I need to know the measurement 8 inches up from the inside of your elbow, then from that point down to the floor. If you don't understand let me know. I really enjoy doing things like this.

Thanks, thats a little short.  How long do you think would be right for you? Any size is okay with me. That knife is a Treeman. I have two made the same way, one for squirrels and one for big game. If 48 inches is good for you no problem.

Sorry I never learned to post photos. My lazyness. I finished the duck. One can find a lot wrong with it but I'm happy. I gave it to my wife. She thought it was good. So JJ can't cook this one.

Thanks for your comment, I just love knives so I felt like I needed to be part of a community who share the same enthusiasm.

jan harley and you made the featured page good job..
  • Bruce Cain

Thank you for your warm welcome. I am very new to collecting knives. I chose to collect only barlows. Over the past few months I read the history of each manufacturer. I began collecting a few Case knives, then some Queen manufactured Shatt & Morgans, a Robeson, and Cripple Creeks. Then I bought some GEC barlows. Through my collecting and lurking at other forums I have learned much but still have a lot to learn. ..  I have enjoyed reading of your collecting along with your husband as a team of sorts. I value your input on my efforts and goals. For now I need to cull some early purchases of barlows from manufacturers no longer in business. I feel that GEC is the way to go. Bruce
