I just discovered Bill's knives. I haven't yet bought one, but am planning on it later on this year. Bill's got me checking out his page to see what floats my boat more than what I saw of his here on iKC. The guy has an INCREDIBLY unique design sense; like very few that I've seen!
  • Bill Fletcher

Stephen thanks for your kind comments regarding my collection.  I think I'm like the rest of  the folks here at IKC  in that I love the hunt and sharing of knife collecting.  All the best, Bill

Stephen, Welcome to the Stockman Pattern Group.
  • J.J. Smith III

    Thanks, Stephen.

You know they sell that in mason jars.

  • Jim Thompson

Steve, thanks for the like on my skinner. I was not sure how well I would like it until I got it finished. It feels good in hand and I expect I will do a couple more with different handles.

Stephen, come join us at the Irish Geoup. You don't have to be Irish.

Hi Stephen, thanks for the comment on my .44 sp. It is a handfull but I shoot alot and am used to the recoil, however being Titanium it is very light, which is one reason I bought it. You know when it goes off.

Stephen, I have watched the Hoppin Mad Hillbilly on the web a couple of times.  I haven't really watched him a lot. He won't sell anything made in China. He sells s lot of German and USA  made knives along with a few made in Pakistan. I usually watch Knives Live and the Saturday Night Knife and gun show. I haven't seen or bought anything from the hoppin mad hillbilly. I first learned of him on Sharpfans.
  • Billy Oneale

I didn't get to see much of it tonight, but I did get a glimpse of that RR double trapper. It was enticing . I also did see that big Ocoee River sunfish that he showed. I know that the ocoee brand is a Frost brand, but I have seen some of the Schrade knives look exactly like some of them. They are probably made in the same factory.

Stephen, it's a small world, for sure.  Salem is only about 50 miles south of Portland, and I live in Hillsboro, which is about 15 miles east of Portland.  By coincidence, my sister  lives in Salem, but works at a recycling plant located north of Salem.  Want to know another funny coincidence?  Your sister's Director of Communication, Andrea Cantu-Schomus, whose maiden name I assume is Cantu, might be somehow related to the mechanic who keeps my Subaru running smoothly, Felix Cantu. (BTW, he's one of the best mechanics I've ever known.)  :D

  • AlecsKnives

    Hi Stephen,

Thanks for the hello!  I have begun to make some knife handles and I am going to start my first knife from scratch using a damascus bar I got.  I will eventually post good pics of my collection and the knives I have made.  It is hard to find time for it, I am so busy raising my family and workin...

  • Billy Oneale

    Thanks, Stephen.
  • Jan Carter

Look at Harley, He's hanging out on the featured members page!!
  • Jim Thompson

Steve, thanks for the birthday wish. They seem to come around a lot faster at this age. By the way, did you get thye info on the knife show? I sent the response with attachments to your home e mail address a few weeks ago.
  • KENT GABLE

Thanks for the welcome Stephen. Really liked that folder of yours with the Dixie Flag & Southern Generals. Must be a rare one?

THANKS FOR THE COMMENT STEPHEN, AFTER 12 YEARS, I AM STILL LEARNING.
  • Gary Norton

Thank you Stephen for your warm wishes. When I was a kid, Christmas & birthdays seemed like they took forever to get to the next one. Now, they seem to come every 6 months.

    Hey Stephen,

Thanks for checking out my photos and the nice comment on my ZT knife. Yep, I am a big fan of them. High quality, sharp, and great looks all at a decent price. I enjoy collecting them and carrying them. Good stuff on your wall as well. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

    Happy Memorial day!!

Stephen,  I did watch, it's not offten you get 2 great races in a row. The Indy 500 finish was great. I never seen so many cars take off with just 3 wheels. And to watch nascar run on empty in the last lap... man what a day.
  • Scott Gerald Ketch

Posted photos for ya, more on the way!!

Stephen .. I used that Queen 06L to make the willow whistle .. the D2 blade takes an edge 'n holds it !!!

Thanks for "liking" the pic !!!

  • Bruce Cain

Pretty trapper photo with your welcome. Thanks. Thank you for your warm welcome. I am a newbie and for now collect only barlows. I began with barlows because I am old  school about so many things. Could Tom Sawyer be wrong?

For a long while I lurked at other large knife forums and learned the histories of most American manufacturers. I began collecting a few older barlows then bought a few Case knives. Later I bought some Queen made Shatt & Morgan, Robeson, and Cripple Creek barlows. Finally I bought a few GECs. All have natural material scales, all are American made, and none are Damascus nor are any Daddy barlows.    Bruce

    Stephen,

You asked me about the Spyderco Perin PPT, I really do like it and have found it to be a very high quality knife. I am a fan of Spyderco anyhow but this one was really nice. Good quality and attention to detail. If you like Spyderco's you can not go wrong.

  • KENT GABLE

Stephen- I need to find a simple chart w/ a brief descrition of composition % & basic charteristics suck as Rockwell hardness, etc. I'll be lookin' Thanks, Kent
  • Halicon

Kent Gable? Haven't seen him around my discussions but sure, I'll open the flood gates some more. Been waiting for someone to ask about it anyway, I don't know much about other topics than sharpening, steel and martial arts lol
  • Halicon

Yep, got a couple of belts here and there but it was so long ago that I graded that I barely remember them anymore, I guess I went the furthest with wrestling.

I treat the styles I practice now more like gym hours, there's just way too much to learn out there for you to bother with belts. I do spar regularly with black belts of as many arts as possible though.

Awesome because you can get the best knowledge in all areas with grappling, striking, inventive striking and so on (gotta stay fresh and keep surprising people lol)

  • johnny twoshoes

Stephen, I'll get some pics on my page. I do have a few new EDCs that I'll have to show as well. Thanks for the comment, and GOD Bless.
  • johnny twoshoes

Okay, the pics are up and the slideshow looks good.

I wasn't able to load all the pics so maybe I can finish on another day.

I'd like to know what you think.

    Thanks again

  • Ricky Ray

    Hey Stephen!

    Who is Steel?

You must be confusing me with some other ruggedly handsome and intelligent guy named Rick. LOL!

  • Jan Carter

    Stephen,

I will certainly give it my best shot.  What questions would you like me to ask?

  • EMERY OGILVIE

    thanks Steve .

  • KnifeMaker

    Michael Bolen

Hi Stephen, I use an Electroetch Machine to put my name onn the blades. It uses a stencel and acid along with electric to burn the name into the steel. You can get one from Jantz Supply for around $300, Thanks Mike
  • Paul Bishop

    Thanks!
  • KENT GABLE

Stephan-I'd love to get a camera suitable for close ups & forward pics of all my knives including that Randall Model 5 I recently purchased but I've been so busy with yard maintenance & other chores lately, I just can't find time. It's coming eventually though.

I still love Buck, Case & Canal Street Cutlery is another fine mfg., but Randall makes one helluva fine blade that seems to out do everything I've owned before. I still carry my Buck Stockman everyday though.

  • Stan T

Thanks for the nice comments on my knives Stephen. They are for sure a lot of fun to collect. Just nice to be in a place where so many of us appreciate such fine things.
  • John Elliott

Thanks so much will sheck the catelog . Thinking of leaving it for my oldes boy if its a piece to be collected.
  • MUHAMMAD NADEEM

    BIG THANKS!
