How long have you collected knives?

Favorite Kind of Knives
Whittlers, especially CASE "Seahorse",
and the Great Eastern "Gippetto" Whittlers.
I also like other utilitarian frames and whatever appeals to me at the time.
Thanks for letting me kniw about [vintage american knives group] I'll be looking forward to checking it out! I also like vintage Bowie knives as well..........Afer collecting knives for going on ;into my 27th year ; I decided back in the summer of 2009 to make [hand forged-old school style] a couple of
bowie knives myself. It wasn't easy but I came to appricate the true hard work & craftsmanship that goes into making something like the very vintage knives I collect! The place I did this at was the [new england school of metal work] in Auburn Maine........I highly recommend it..........It could shed a whole new light on how & why we all seem to gravitate to mankinds oldest tool! Anyway keep hunting for the good stuff.
That's a nice knife. I went on a 700 pic 9 hour picture taking session the other day and realized I may have as many different whittlers as I have trappers. I guess it is good to do that once in a while. I really should get rid of some of my knives, but that I think, would be a hard thing to do. I really like what I have. Even some of the cheap, so called junk.
Nice Bulldog photo with your warm welcome. I collect barlows but not yet a Bulldog. Thank you for your warm welcome. I am a newbie and for now collect only barlows. For a long while I lurked at other large knife forums and learned the histories of most American manufacturers. I began collecting a few older barlows then bought a few Case knives. Later I bought some Queen made Shatt & Morgan, Robeson, and Cripple Creek barlows. Finally I bought a few GECs. All have natural material scales, all are American made, and none are Damascus nor are any Daddy barlows. Bruce
If I could win a lotto, I'd own and fly a PBY. WAY cool old, slow plane.
I'd like to have known and visited with your dad. I've known several WWII aviators over the years. They're just about all gone now. The gent that gave me his brother's rifle and knife was a B-17 pilot and a HELL of great guy and friend.
I think you would like one of the new knives I bought over the weekend. I got another seahorse whittler. Red one this time. I'm thinking about turning the orange one in to a EDC. What do you think?

Finally found a replacement computer for the home system....
Now I've got to find a modem.
Seems that no one has the old fashoned "dial up" stuff any more.
