My Husband Donnie and I live in Hiawassee GA. I was Blessed to have found iKC and became the owner in October of 2012. I believe all knife collectors are created equal, no matter what type they collect. iKC brings a different direction to knife collecting in my opinion, you may not personally like something or have an issue with a particular company. But respect is a substantial aspect of what we are about. I have a strong faith and believe everyone is entitled to theirs.
Interests
History, fishing, Diving, knife collecting and about a billion other things LOL. My main interest these days is iKC and bringing the future generations into knife collecting.
Other Hobbies
there are other hobbies? OK, I found one! Watching my husband learn to build knives
Miss Jan, congrats again on becoming the owner of this great club. I have a question, has the rules on advertising changed? Can someone advertise a product that they make? Thanks and if there is some way I can help you with this new responsibility of IKC, please let me know.
Jan, thaks for the comment on my damascus hunter. The pins are brass but the way they picked up the light in my photo it is hard to tell. They are hand peened and I do the final finishing on the handles after peening. This wau I can get them very smooth and then polish with 2000 grit paper. I also use stainless & nickel silver rod material for pins. I decide on the pin type after I get all the handle shaping & blade tweaking done just prior to assembly. Thanks again.
Thanks for the welcome Jan, i want to thank you for helping me figure out how to become a member the other day, i found this site by accident after i bought a couple of Terry Davis knives last weekend.
Jan; I started fooling with Model T's in 1953 and have never been without one since.I didn;t start knives until 20 years later. My interest in knives is about anything old with quality with a leaning toward Ulster Knife Co.
Thanks for the ad. It is great to finally find a place where I can talk about knives and collecting without having someone looking at me sideways like I am speaking Martian. I look forward to the advice since I am a true novice with only one knife made in my time (not a percision piece but an edged metal stick). Let me know if you ever get near Myrtle Beach for a gratis free ride to get a beverage.
Thank you, Jan. I am interested in recommendations for individuals who do knife modifications. If you can point me in the right direction I would be greatly appreciative. J
Ron Cooper advised me to contact with you for advertising space.
I am registered as a KnifeMaker but Let me explain the situation.
I live in Russia and work for Russian Scouting Association. The association has friends who are really outstanding KnifeMakers. They carry on the knife maker tradition started 300 years ago in Siberia.
So our friends let us an opportunity to fundraise some money to run scouting.
They give us knives to sell and keep money to run scouting.
So I would like to sell some knives with IKC assistance.
Does it eligible for IKC? If it does. How we can arrange this?
How we can get the advertising space? How much is fee? Does there any trial period?
Thanks for the welcome to this site and have a Merry Christmas!
I do have a question? I have a cube of HY-80 steel that was apart of a submarine that I was stationed on. It was retired from service and cut up and we were given these cubes of steel as a momento of our service on board. Is this somethng that could be made into a knife? Then I would have a knife made out of the USS Billfish SSN 676.
Hello, First, excuse my English, like many frogs, I'm talking it very bad. I live in a country where there are still many knives, especially at least a traditional knife by region. I have the chance of living at 20 miles from Thiers, city famous for its cutlery. I am currently looking for documents with photos, drawings of the markings, various guides, that could help me to date precisely the knives swiss brand Wenger, but as the company archives burned in an accident in 1985, there is no catalog or other documents prior to 1991. Good luck, Jean-Claude
