It is the old knives that really draw me. The history is so interesting!
Hey Tom, I just looked at your collection and I gotta say you have one of the finest collections I've saw in a long time my friend. Your GEC collection is absolutely amazing!! And when I saw on your profile that you had only been collecting for 3-5 year I was blown away. How did you get such a nice collection in such a short time? Did you give GEC your credit card # and tell em you wanted one of everything that they built? LOL!! And thats not even counting all the really nice knives from other great brands. All I can say is keep it up man because your collection is absolutely amazing!! Thanks for posting the pics for us to see!!
Yeah I definitely know what you mean when you talk about getting carried away with it but its fun. I love that GEC Mammoth Ivory 25 pattern barlow you have. I've been looking for that knife forever. The good thing is that these high quality USA made knives are pretty much as good as money in the bank and in alot of cases you can make some pretty decent profit on them. But Thanks for the nice words about my knives. I've only been a IKC member for 3 days so I'll ask be posting more pics over the next few days.
Boy, it is sure hard to comment with all those great GEC's scrolling by just above. I keep getting distracted. OK, scroll down so the knives disappear. Thanks for your comments about my knives & pics. Maybe you can help me with a small mystery? I bought the Mountaineers Are Free knives without a clue what the words were about, I just liked the etched blades, the gunstock pattern and the Battle Axe logo. Do you know what the phrase means?
You did luck out!! Greg has gotten some very nice pieces from Ken lately. I have some oddities that I had gotten from Ken earlier on. What did the certificate say? Did it come with one? If not have you considered asking Chris to document it for your collection? Thanks for sharing it Tom
Thanks for the insight. We have tossing up on whether or not to go with that handle material and your notes help. GREAT now there is another handle material for us to buy too!!
Thanks Tom!! You have a fantastic knife collection! I see you have some Schrade Waldens. I used to be a BIG Schrade Walden collector waaay back in the 80's. I only have four left now. I have three of them in my misc. album.
I am so sorry you have not been well! I hope your getting better. Donnie has been working on the house up here a little and forging a little, more now that the weather is cooling off. The hammer in is this weekend so he is happy as a hog! I am getting a little stronger but taking more pills than I would like. Catch 22, dont take them, make no progress getting stronger, do take them make more progress but need to rest more often LOL. The migraines are not easing off any but I have a great Dr now and she is trying to get the meds with just the right balance that I can have my life back. Donnie reminds me often not to trip over anything LOL! Hope to hear from you a little more often, let me know your doing ok please
Hi Tom, Thanks for your friendship. Yes I did see the Shepherd Hills Auction for the Green Bone Elephant Toe. All in all I mostly try to collect hawkbill/pruner and cotton sampler knives. You have some very fine fixed blades. Outstanding Collection !! Best regards, Bill
