No, it is not a cross at all. It is the original breed from Switzerland. It is used there for beef and some dairy. When it was imported to the U.S. , breeders saw it milked good, and they took the better milkers from the breed and started the Brown Swiss breed. The Braunvieh is said to be the oldest breed there is. They are good looking cows.
