I actually bought this knife around the Summer of 2012 in an Boy Scout Store! Yes they still have the occasional Camillus knife in stock. The Leader Classic is a nice little pen knife or half whittler featuring Clip and pen blade.

Ha! After reading the caption on this knife I went scurrying over to the local BSA Hq., which is just down the road from where I live. I asked the young man who was working in their Scout Store if they had any old stock Camillus knives laying around. I watched as his face transformed into a big, broad grin. With a chuckle he declared that "they were long gone!"

I was surprised at how knowledgeable he was about knives and we talked for quite a spell. He did show me a new knife that they had just got into the store. It was a Chinese made Trapper with SS blades, nickel silver bolsters and SS liners. It also had beautiful jigged bone handles. The cost was $39.95 and it came in an oak box that was lined with crushed velvet. I took that knife out of the box and played with it for a while. The first thing I noticed was how solid it felt. There was a nice heft to it. Then upon opening one of the blades I felt a silky smoothness that you don't usually feel on an inexpensive production knife. I proceeded to open the other blade and experienced that same smooth, non gritty ease of operation. The lock-up on both blades was superb. No blade wobble, up or down or side to side. Just a very secure lock-up on both blades! I was very impressed and nearly bought it. I told the salesperson that if you blindfolded someone and asked them to operate this knife they would no-doubt think they were operating a knife costing considerably more than 40 bucks. I know that I would.

Anyway, after having said all that, I just wanted to say that the BSA store near my home was cleaned out of any NOS Camillus Scout knives, long - long ago! Ratz! A day late and a dollar short, again!

It is a classic style and nice to know you can still find one or two at the BSA store
