I origionally saw a basket that my wifes Grandfather carved for her and tried it. Carved only baskets for a long time. Way before we got a computer here at home, she got me a printed copy of "Carving Peach Pits by R. V. Dietrich", off of the internet. Started experimenting with monkey carving with that as inspiration. Carving the peach pits is what got me into using a CASE Seahorse Whittler.

Actually I tried carving one, once, when I was a teenager. Sliced my finger open to the bone and never tried again until I saw the basket.
