Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

This photo was taken on 10/02/2010 at a location in Northeastern Washington, near the Canadian border. Shown in the photo is Mill Pond dam. This dam was one of the first flume systems put in place to help provide power to the regions small towns (such as Metalline Falls, located just a touch north of Mill Pond).

The history of the area is quite fascinating. This is...to this very day...a very remote region that is sparsely populated. Indeed, the population has actually been declining since the erosion of Northeastern Washington's lumber industry. At one point, a few decades ago, the area was thriving.

The region is home to a areal abundance of wildlife, from bears (black and Grizz) to cougars, deer, elk, beaver, badgers and a host of birds and fish (the fishing here is positively great!).

All in all, a great place to go if you need a little quiet time and a sense of what being truly alive mean.
