Yes, there is quite a difference. Birds of prey are really interesting. We have some Eagles around here right now.
Yep! I do believe you're right, Ken. I was waaay off with my guess of a Peregrine Falcon. Completely different coloring on the two. Check it out:
Here is the Peregrine Falcon...
And here is the Red-shouldered Hawk...
As shown in the pictures, the Peregrine has much darker plumage than the Hawk. And there are other distinguishing features such as size and weight that can be described on their respective Wikipedia pages. Ron, I'm not sure, but I think it is a Red Shouldered Hawk.
