Perfect choice indeed Ron as I stopped listening to music made any time after the mid seventies  !

Dead , I have been taken care of by Greg at TSA and am now a Happy Bunny ! I am sure that Queen would have replaced or fixed that knife but on re,import I would have been hit for another 20% VAT and a further £8 for the privilege of having the tax collected , and then of course the shipping .... you see what I mean .

At present if I buy a European knife in the EU shipping is usually free , over say £50 , and there are no additional taxes or delays with customs , I hope that now we are leaving the EU we might be able to get such an agreement with the US !!

Perfect choice Ron!

My condolences for your loss, John.

I believe a little music would be appropriate at a time like this. Take it away, Elton!

So the Queen's spine has failed over leaving the EU?  :)

In all seriousness, Queen has a reputation for bad backsprings at times -- though they must have a decent number of good ones, given their popularity.  Fortunately, Queen seems to still be doing well enough to replace such defective knives (I can't imagine there was anything you did to wreck that backspring).

Though I'm no expert on Queen's warranty, I'd bet they'd exchange the knife directly (though that hardly saves you the costs in post)...

Dealing with someone like Greg does increase your faith in the goodness of humanity Jan .

It is not the only example of generosity that he has shown me , but for the sake of not embarrassing him I will not mention the other occasions .

This little fellow will go rest in his box now .

I like his ethic and kindness also :)

It pleases me that you will still have this old friend to remember the times you have had with it but your pocket will remain happy with a Trestle Pine :)

I have just had the most generous offer of a replacement knife from Greg Holmes , I mean a really generous offer .

I was just going to write off the knife as one of those things that happens in life .

It is constantly amazing the kindness that I have found since becoming a member of iKC and dealing with Gentlemen like Greg !!!

Hi Dale , you are a kind chap for showing such concern .

A knife from the states costs me around an extra 40% over what you would pay . Now that did cause me a deal of distress to start with but these days I am used to it  .

In the past I have tried to get round rules and regulations and sometimes it worked but these days I am too old to do that . I would also be unwilling to involve anyone else in trying to bend the rules cos when it comes down to it I just use my free money for fun things like knives and razors . Although I enjoy buying these things , and now have a few of them , they are only toys to me and not worth risking my or anyone else's peace of mind .

Believe me I am grateful for your concern and don't wish to sound to precious.

Thanks my friend .
