I wish they were still making these Robesons.

Thanks, Hog, for pointing me in that direction! I'll have to hop over there later and post a couple pics of my Stockman in that thread.

Cheers, mate!

J.J.,

I know exactly what you mean about not liking the nail nicks. I have a Mastercraft Barlow whose secondary pen blade has just such a nick. It's very shallow, almost non existent, and hard to get a good purchase when attempting to open it. See pics below...

That same Barlow knife has a very nice deep long pull nick on its master blade, though...

All 3 of my Pocketeze Stockman's blades have very substantial nail nicks. Unlike my Mastercraft's pen blade. And, apparently, your Humpback Whittler. Hopefully these next 2 pics will illustrate how nice and deep those nicks really are...

So, the short answer to your question would simply be: The nicks on my Stockman are great!

Cheers, my friend!

Ron,

I've got the Mastercraft (Robeson-made by Queen) Humpback Whittler.  Don't like the nail nicks on it.  How are they on the stockman?

That's correct, Craig. Queen made these as part of a dealer exclusive for Smoky Mountain Knife Works a while back. The blades are D2 Tool Steel. It is 4" closed. A very solid knife with some nice stag handles.
