The bevel had a mirror finish. The blade comes from Spyderco with standard grind marks on it. Notice the difference in the patina on the blade and then on the bevel. I didn't really notice it as much until after I touched up the edge revealing bare steel. If a blade were polished before forcing a patina you can see the difference in the results.
