The online community of knife collectors, A Knife Family Forged in Steel
I had the good fortune, last week end, to spend most of three solid days at cutlery mecca - Smokey Mountain Knife Works. Saying it was an educational and fun week end would be classed as a dramatic understatement, Taking three days off from the shop was a welcome change of pace. One pass through the aisles of the 100,000 retail space and you may find your head spinning. As I stood behind the sales counter I definitely noticed that glazed look on many of the faces filing by - especially first time visitors. The variety and volume of inventory is simply amazing,
Talking knives and being with knife people is something I can always work into my schedule. Jay Parker and the SMKW folks rolled out the red carpet and i was able to meet a lot of new friends, Jan Carter and Don introduced themselves and we had a good opportunity to get to know one another, Of course they also introduced me to IKC and a chance to expand the knife community even more.
I'm really looking forward to "color change" season next year and the Tennessee pilgrimage where we'll wade in a little deeper into the knife world. "Woody"
