Thanks for welcoming me to the group. My father was the actual collector. I am the inheritor. I think some are collectible and some are not. I have included pictures of what i am working with.
Thank you! I'm glad to have found this group. I'm excited to increase my knowledge and understanding of knife collecting. Like most of us I seem to be always trying to fit 30 hours of activity into each 24 hour day, but I am going to make it a point (no pun intended, not at first anyway) to check in regularly. I appreciate the welcome!
well hello there ty for the add I am going through a bunch of knives and using your site among others to help describe and price them I really appeciate in advance yall's help and support
My interest in knife collecting and knife collections sort of fell into my lap. I was given the gift of a knife collection from a friend. I counted 60 knives from various makers and styles. It immediately generated an interest in learning more about knives and more about what I was actually given. I am reaching out to a couple of forums to help me identify and learn more about each knife I have. The collection ranges from really nice Buck and Schrade knives to small collectable folding knives that have "Drink Coca-Cola" with the price of 5 cents on it. It looks to be a real smorgasbord.
I've dabbled in collecting over the years, but have gotten serious about it in my retirement years. (since 20114).
I just snagged a nice 4 blade LF&C for a great price and am pretty excited about it.
Also, I notice you're in SC. I lived in Beaufort from 1978 to 2000 and my daughter and granddaughter live in Columbia. My wife and stepdaughter (who own two stores) just got back from a trade show at the Cola fair grounds. Lastly, my older brother was born in Port Royal, so as you can see, I have quite an attachment to you Sandlappers. :-)
Looks like a really good site, thanks for having me.
I'd be interested to know if you have any views / opinions on knife sharpening equipment.
Back in the days of my deer stalking and hunting when I was a bit more mobile (and doing a lot more skinning / gralloching / butchering) I used a Lansky set, but it took more time than I like to recall. I've just bought an updated Lansky with easier sharpening options, but still not sure I've got what I really need.
Thanks for the welcome, and thanks for the great site!

Thanks for the greeting. I am trying to figure out how to add some photos of knives I purchased recently.
Thank you!
