What your dad said is mostly true. Been carving monkeys so long I can usually look at a pit and pretty much tell what it will look like, IF there is a monkey in there. I've found out that only 5-10% of the pits will make a good monkey. Fortunately, almost all of the rest can make a good basket. I even keep the split pits to make hat-pins with.

What do they call you around home? Junior?
After I got married, there were 4 Johns in the family. Got confusing at times.
