A lot of it depends on how much the knife has been used or oen and shut

Hi David - I watched your video - I found it interesting, for sure. Although I own a couple of Buck 110's and a few other similar 5 inch folding hunters, I am not a folder collector per se. As a result, I am limited in my overall folder knowledge and the neuances of handling them. So here's a teaching moment for you...please help me understand and appreciate your "Opening" technique of holding the knife by the blade and snaping it open. 

What does this method of opening do that flipping the blade open instead doen't? I have never seen anyone open thier knives like that, so I wasn't sure if this is a folder thing, a Buck thing, or a specific test.
