Can someone tell me about this knife?  I am sure it is not a US made Buck even though it says Buck U.S.A. on the blade.  Was it made for or by Buck in a Chinese factory?  (It came from China.)  Or is it just a fake or counterfeit Buck?  It came in the box pictured.  If it was made for or by Buck in China would their warranty be good?

Two more questions.  Did I get hurt at $6?  And should I put it in my collection or stick it in the glove box in my van?

I don't think a $6 Buck knife is highly collectable but everyone collects different things. I really don't like a company of any kind putting USA and having it made somewhere else, no matter where. It's just not right. The same holds true for all countries. Lets say German and it's made in France, just not right. I am not saying anything bad about any country, other than, it should be represented from the country it was made in.

For $6.00 I don't care what country it came from. If it cuts its good!

Someone who collects Bucks may say for sure on this model but in general the parts come in and they are assembled here. Its not perfect but in an attempt to compete they have done it on certain lower end models.

I'm betting Data can peg it. I honestly couldn't say...but $6? Hmmm

Does it say what model it is? Did you try googling it?

No paperwork came with it and the only markings on it is Buck U.S.A. on the blade.  My main question is, is it a Chinese made Buck or is it counterfeit?

Nothing on the end of the box? Hmmm, good question though. I haven't been up on all Buck models for years. I've read here and there on the net about fake Buck knives though. If it was genuine, you'd think there's be a model number/name or something somewhere.

Looks kinda like this one........ http://www.knifeworks.com/buckaplhadorado420hcsteelrosewooddymondwo...

But there's small differences.

Hmmm, where are the Buck guys?

It COULD be a knockoff of the Buck Alpha Dorado like in that link??

Steve, if that's the case, parts made one place and assembled somewhere else is a different story. A lot of our USA cars are made this way. Boker has knives made in China but they call them Boker Plus,. that let's you know where it was made. The knife world has certainly got confusing.

According to the link, the Dorado is 4" closed.  Mine is 3 1/2" closed.  The blade on mine is 2 1/2" like the Dorado and very similarly shaped.

Interesting. I've been looking around the internet, and so far I can't see one like yours, BUT, that doesn't mean anything one way or the other. I thought we had some Buck guys around here that were up on all Buck knives. I haven't collected any Buck knives for about 30 years. LOL!

Speaking of cars reminds me that I read that the car with the largest percentage of American made parts is the Toyota Camry.  I know my son helps build their engines in the big Toyota engine plant in Huntsville, AL.
